It was currently 8:30am on Christmas Day and Jay and Hailey had just gotten up out of bed. They went downstairs and there was two piles of presents in front of their Christmas tree one was for Jay from Hailey and the other was gifts for Hailey from Jay. Before sitting down to open presents they decided to make some chocolate chip pancakes together to have for their breakfast. Hailey put the flour, sugar, baking powder, pinch of salt, milk, eggs, melted butter and lots of chocolate chips into a bowl. Jay then mixed all the ingredients together to form the batter while Hailey got out a frying pan and began heating it up. Once the pan was all heated Jay took charge of cooking the pancakes while Hailey made the two of them mugs of coffee, Hailey had decaf though as she was limiting her caffeine intake at the moment, Jay never questioned this but he was curious as to why she was doing that as the whole time they had known each other she never really got decaf coffee at all.
Once the pancakes were cooked and the hot coffee was ready, they went and sat down at the table to enjoy their breakfast, they spent time talking about their plans for today and the order they were going to be doing everything in. They took their time eating, enjoying the food as it wasn't often due to work that they got to sit down and enjoy a meal without having to rush it especially breakfast as in the morning they already had to be up and at the district early so they usually both just had a cereal bar or piece of fruit while they were on the way to work, they definitely would never have something that took time to prepare and cook/bake.
Hailey washed the dishes and Jay dried them. Then they went over to the Christmas tree. They decided instead of each of them opening one gift at a time Hailey was going to open all her gifts from Jay first then Jay would open all of his. Hailey sat on the couch while Jay sat on the floor and handed Hailey her gifts. He got her really nice gifts such as a basket with lots of her favourite chocolates and self care products like face masks, bubble bath and body lotion in it, he also got her a bottle of her favourite perfume, a new winter jacket and hat that she really wanted, a dainty necklace that had a small heart on the end and then the last present he gave her was written on a card he told her in it that he had booked time out for them to go to the shooting range as he knew she liked the opportunity to try shooting different and newer guns as the team didn't do that as often as she would like to. "Thank you so much Jay for everything I love all of the gifts you got me." She said looking up at him then looking over all of her presents that were now laying on the floor in front of her, she picked up the necklace he bought her and looked at it closer, running her finger over the heart that was on it. "Here give that to me and I'll put it on you." He said putting his hand out so she could hand it to him. Hailey turned around so she was sat in front of him, her back facing him. He moved her hair to the side and unclipped the necklace, he placed it around her neck then clasped it so it didn't fall off. "It's so beautiful. Thank you." Hailey said as she looked down at it now hanging around her neck. "You're so welcome, I'm so glad you like all the gifts." He replied giving her shoulders a small squeeze and placing a kiss on her cheek.
Now it was time for Hailey to give Jay his gifts. All of his gifts were wrapped in red paper apart from one that was wrapped in white snowflake paper and had a massive silver bow on it. "I'm just going to let you open them in any order you want instead of me handing you them but I'm going to keep hold of this one as i want to give it to you last." She said to him as she placed the present wrapped in the white snowflake paper on her lap. Jay opened all the other ones first like Hailey said he got a bottle of his favourite aftershave, a pair of trainers as he'd spoke about needing new ones for the gym, a new flask to keep his coffee hot and a watch as the one he use to wear all the time got broken recently during a chase at work. "Hails thank you so much, you've honestly spoiled me." He said smiling at her. "You're so welcome, you deserve it. Here's your last gift." She took the wrapped up box that was on her lap and handed it to him.
"Was there a certain reason this one was wrapped in different paper?" He asked curious. "Honestly it was just so I could remember what one I wanted you to open last and I didn't get mixed up and accidentally give you it first instead of last." Hailey replied letting out a small laugh. Jay began to open the gift, once he ripped all of the paper off he was left with a white box that had a silver clasp to keep it shut. He pulled the clasp up and lifted the lid of the box and the first thing he did when he saw what was inside was gasp. His eyes were looking at a pregnancy test that had the words 'pregnant' on it and there was also a baby onesie that said on it the words "Daddy I can't wait to meet you." He picked up the positive pregnancy test in one hand and the onesie in the other and looked at both of them closely before looking up at Hailey in shock. "Is this real? Are you being 100% serious with me?" He questioned in disbelief. "Yes Jay I'm being so serious, I'm pregnant. We're having a baby!" She exclaimed standing up from the couch and looking at him with a smile. Jay put the test and onesie down "this is such amazing news, I can't believe it!" He said standing up and wrapping his arms around Hailey picking her up off the ground slightly and spinning her around in his arms. He then gently placed her back down on her feet and placed his hands on her cheeks leaning down to kiss her lips. After he disconnected his lips from hers he placed his forehead against hers "we're going to be parents, this is honestly the best Christmas gift anyone could ever wish for." He said a big smile present on his lips. He pulled Hailey into his arms and placed his chin on the top of her head. "Wait is this why you've been having decaf coffee?" He questioned, he just thought about that and decided to ask her. "Yes, I just don't want to risk it possibly harming or affecting the baby in any way." She replied answering his question. "Ah that explains it and also makes a lot more sense now." There was a moment of silence between them before Jay spoke again "I love you so much Hailey you seriously mean everything to me and I can't wait to start this new chapter with you." Hailey could sense the happiness in his voice. "I love you too Jay so much." She replied letting out a content sigh and cuddling closer to his chest, they stood like this for a while just silently being in each others embraces.
They eventually went and sat down on the couch, Jay had so many questions to ask Hailey such as when did she find out? How was she feeling? etc so they spent some time talking about that then they decided to get ready and continue their Christmas Day.
