~~Tuesday Evening, L.A.~~
Normal POV
"I think she needs to come say hello... What do you say Harley?"
"Come on Harley, get your ass out here!"
"Okay, We are going to go to a break whilst we see if we can get Harley to come out and say hello.. We will be right back so don't go anywhere!"
I can't help but let my jaw hang slack as I keep my eyes glued towards the huge TV hanging on the wall infront of us. They can't be serious.. Can they? Do they seriously want me to come out into a Live Interview like this? I get lost in my growing overwhelming thoughts before I manage to snap myself back to reality and turn my head over to where Rachel is watching me already. "Are they actually being serious?" I ask without thinking, seeing Rachel laugh lightly as she nods her head in reply. "I'm afraid so.. What do you say, fancy going out for your first interview?" She returns with a soft grin, easing my nerves only slightly as I see her more relaxed demenour about all this. If anyone would stop this if it was a bad idea, it would be Rachel. "Really?" I ask in surprise at her calm state, making her giggle at my obviously flustered one. "Why not.. Only if your up for it, no one is going to make you do it if you don't want too." She adds and I honestly don't know what to do. I never expected this to happen, and deffinently not tonight. I have had no time to prepare, no warning. What does Lizzie think about it? Does she want me to join her on stage? Is she ready to share her spotlight tonight with me? "Uhm.." I get stuck on that word as my mind runs wild with what ifs before I snap my head towards the door, hearing fast feet approaching where we are all still sitting backstage. I half expect it to be Lizzie, but then I hear how heavy and quick the foot steps are and know it can't be her with the heels she is wearing tonight. Who could it be? "HARLEY!" I instantly beam over as the familiar voice matches the man as he appears in the door way. None other than Anthony Mackie himself. "Mackie!" I cheer back, jumping up from my seat and rushing to greet him as he meets me half way. We share a quick hug before he pats my shoulders excitedly, looking me up and down in a glance. "You up for being on TV?" He jokes, but with all seriousness behind his eyes as he anxiously waits for my response. "Uh.. Sure, why not.. You only live once right?" I return nervously, not being able to say no to his puppy-dog eyes staring back at me. "Exactly! Come on, let's get you a mic!" I have no time to even second guess myself as Rachel follows behind us both as Mackie drags me out the room. "I'll come with you and go through some things.."
After being dragged through a number of hallways by Mackie with Rachel going through some quick dos and don'ts by my side, we finally arrive behind the stage curtain, my eyes searching for the one person I want to talk to right now. Thankfully, it doesn't take long for my green-eyed girl to come out of the shadows to find me in a slightly less flustered state than before. As soon as I catch her gaze, her plump lips pull into a gorgeous smile as I get lost in finding my way to her and only her. "Hey you." I greet her softly, reaching my hand out for hers instantly. "Hi Soldier.. Couldn't say no to Mackie huh?" She teases as I tug her close, my other hand finding her waist naturally. "Of course I couldn't.. Are you okay with this?" I check in with her, closing the space between us so we have some privacy. "As long as you are?" She replies easily, making me grin at how she always cares for everyone without hesitation. "No going back now." I tease back in return, making her giggle as she leans up, pecking my lips subtly before she pull back to search my eyes. "You don't have to do this Harley.." She begins but I cut her off softly by squeezing her hand in mine. "I'm alright with it baby, I promise. Rachel quickly ran through everything she could with me on the way here, and I have you and Mackie by my side. I'll be alright." I reassure her, making her beaming smile return easily. "James is very excited to meet you.." Lizzie tells me with excitement now behind her eyes, her bright green orbs not looking away from me. "Let's not keep him waiting then." I quickly tell her, seeing some of the stage crew rushing around to get things set up around us. "I'll see you out there." She teases, nipping my hip before pulling me into a quick, good luck kiss. I catch something behind her eyes, something good but I can't quite put my finger on it before she is escorted back on stage with Mackie close behind. I stay put with Rachel as she runs run some final things as a mic is fitted underneath my suit jacket and then onto the front of my shirt. Once Rachel is finished, we both look out as James returns on stage and the show comes back on air. Fuck, this is actually happening..
Breathe Harley.. Just breathe.
Everything will be fine..
"Now, as you all know, before the break, we learnt that Lizzie's girlfriend Harley was sitting backstage tonight. And we couldn't resist. Luckily for us, she has agreed to her first ever live interview with us, tonight! So it is my absolute pleasure to introduce to you all, Captain Harley Lane!"
James introduces me and I look to my side to see Rachel giving me a comforting smile as she gestures for me join everyone on stage. I take one final deep breathe before nodding my head softly and turning back to walk out on stage where I see James standing waiting for me infront of his table. As soon as I step foot on the stage from behind the curtain, I am blinded by the stage lights, my eyes squinting slightly as I find my way towards where he is waiting with a huge smile and open arms. Once I reach James, he reaches out for my hand, which I return easily as he greets me with a warming smile as the studio audience behind us is cheering and applauding. "Don't be nervous Harley, you'll be fine." He whispers in my ear, making me beam back in reply before he guides me over to where Mackie and Lizzie are waiting for me infront of the sofa. Mackie quickly pulls me into a huge bear hug, making everyone laugh before he takes a seat at one side of the sofa as my attention falls to Lizzie. The lights behind us making her eyes shine even brighter as she watches me closely. I wait for her to make the first move, not wanting to overstep with her infront of the cameras pointed at us. But to my surprise, she tugs my hand to pull me closer and leans up to kiss my cheek. "Hey Soldier." She whispers in my ear before pulling away as I chuckle at the audience's reaction to our little show of PDA. Lizzie never lets go of my hand as she leads us onto the sofa, she sits down first in the middle beside Mackie and I soon follow, sitting at the other side closest to where James is now sitting again. Once we are both comfortable, I feel Lizzie's hand find it's usual place on my thigh as my arm subconciously goes behind her resting on the back of the sofa. We let the audience calm down from their surprise as we all share some light laughter, Lizzie checking in with me as my eyes never seem to be able to take everything in. But then the sound of James' voice beside us all snaps me from my slight daze, Lizzie's grip tightening slightly to let me know she is with me, no matter what.
"I feel very honoured for you agreeing to all this tonight Harley, and having a fellow Brit with me always makes me feel right at home so I'm glad you agreed to join us." James begins and it takes a second for me to find my voice, but when I focus on Lizzie's touch on y leg, I manage to take in a shaky breath before choosing my words carefully. Not wanting to say anything wrong tonight. "I feel honoured that you asked me out here James, and I can deffinently agree with you on that one. Hearing that British accent always seems to make me feel right at home." I return, making him beam back in reply as he sees my nerves slowly beginning to fade the longer I am out here. "And can I also say how incredible you look tonight. You seem to be able to pull off a suit better than most." He says playfully, making me chuckle as the audience seem to agree with his statement. I can't deny it feels good, but I also feels my cheeks blushing slightly with the huge reaction from everyone in the room. "Thank you very much James, I have to be representing team Olsen no matter what." I return and earn a giggle from Lizzie beside me at my words. We go back and fourth for a little while before I catch him looking a little more serious with what is to come next. "So, we all know your a British Soldier Harley, and from what I have heard you are a Captain and Medic is that right?" James begins to ask a little less light heartedly as the audience seem to settle into the more serious demenour. "It is, yes." I reply easily, seeing where this topic of conversation is headed. Thankfully, I do not mind taking about my career. Even if it is infront of millions of people live on TV. "Can you give us a little more insight into what you do?" James asks and I smile, taking a moment to gather my thoughts as to what I am going to say. Not wanting to ramble on and on, but wanting to cover what is important to me and my job. "I joined the British Army at 17, and have been a serving Soldier ever since. My first Tour was in Afghanistan, and after that I have had the privilege to travel the World with 7 Section. I decided to become a Medic after losing someone I seen as a Brother to me on the field, and then became a Captain after serving my Fifth Tour.."
I go on and answer some more of James' questions as I try and explain my job and career life as best as I can on the spot, earning some sweet and genuine reactions from everyone around us. "Your very humble and grounded Harley. No wonder everyone falls in love with you as soon as they meet you." James swoons slightly, making me laugh in reply as I feel my cheeks blush again slightly. "Well, there are out of luck, my heart belongs to Miss Olsen here." I reply easily, turning to see Lizzie's bright and beautiful eyes staring back at me adoringly. "That's adorable!" James cheers, and the audience join his excitement for a moment as they cheer for us both. Lizzie seems to get lost in the moment, she leans over without thinking and kisses my cheek, making the audience get even louder. We seem to both remember where we are, laughing as we break our gaze and turn back to James who is admiring us. "So, let's get into the juicy stuff, Harley.. How has it been being a part of Lizzie's crazy World?" James asks and I quickly chuckle at his question. I turn and give Lizzie a comforting smile as she grips my leg a little tighter. "It's been an experience, but the best kind. We have had some obstacles to face, and they have only made us stronger together. And I would go through it all again if it meant I got to be by Lizzie's side everyday." I ramble a little, but by the looks everyone is giving me, I said everything right. Even Lizzie has glossy eyes as I glance over to look at her. "Okay and on that very cute note, we are heading for another a break, I need so re-do my make-up after those adorable words. But when we come back, it is time for our game of the night. And tonight we are playing Shock Karaoke! So don't go anywhere, we'll be back." James goes to another break, giving us time to breathe as I turn my head straight towards Lizzie as she dabs under her eyes softly. I can't help but smile as one of her team rush out to make sure her make-up is not too smudged. I catch Mackie with a grin as he looks between us, Lizzie's hand never leaving my leg for comfort. This is going better than I ever expected it to be, but now it's time for one of James' famous games. This should be fun.
~~Tuesday Night, L.A.~~
Lizzie POV
I am very thankful for James going to another break. I couldn't help but let a few tears fall at Harley's sweet and adoring words. She really is so fucking amazing. I let my team touch up my make-up as I hold onto Harley's leg, not wanting her to go anywhere before they disappear again and James is now standing just infront of us. "Lizzie you are one very lucky girl! Harley, your even more amazing in person. Keep making our girl here happy." James gushes, making us both laugh and beam back in reply to his kind words. "Don't I know it." I quickly reply, leaning my head onto Harley shoulder. "It's all I ever want to do James." Harley replies softly and James practically melts at her words before he is called away with Mackie to start setting up across the room for our game to finish the show with. I take the moment alone with Harley to just admire her as she slowly turns to meet my gaze. "I love you Soldier." I whisper into the now small space between us. "I love you Elizabeth Chase." Harley returns easily, making my smile beam impossibly more before we are pulled out of our moment by being shown over to where the game is set up at the other side of the stage. I quickly reach out for Harley's hand as we make the small walk to join James and Mackie. "What do you say Harley? Ready for me to kick your ass at this game?" Mackie greets as we join them, making us both smile at his childish behaviour. "Bring it on Mackie!" Harley returns with the same energy, making me just adore her even more. "Well then, that gets us off the hook Lizzie." James jokes as some of the stage crew come to fit Harley and Anthony with some belts that can give you a slight electric shock when triggered. Now this is going to be fun. Once they are set up, they are shown to their marks as myself and James take ours after being given some small devices that are liked to the belts. I, of course, am standing opposite Harley as James is standing opposite Mackie as the cameras begin rolling again and we are live on air. James jump straight back in, greeting everyone before he begins to explain the rules of our game.
"So, we will play some lyrics from a well known song, and our contestants have to carry on singing the lyrics once the music stops. If they get it right, they are safe. If they get even one word wrong, they get an electric shock. We will play best of three, may the best team win!" James finishes and I quickly look to Harley, confident we have this in the bag considering how much she loves her music. I catch her giving me a subtle wink as we get into our places, making me giggle a little shyly as I feel my cheeks blush a little. "As much as I want to win, I can't help but want to give you a little shock at least." I tease over at Harley, causing her to put her hand over her chest and act really shocked by my words. Her mouth falls wide open, making everyone laugh at our teasing. "That's mean.." She returns, making me giggle as she shakes it off and laughs softly before James begins to start teasing Mackie with pretending to press the button. "Okay Harley, your up first.. Are you ready?" James announces and I catch her jump a little before she nods over with a beaming smile. "Ready as I'll ever be.." She replies and James smiles as he reads the first song from his card. "Your first song is.. Blank Space by Taylor Swift!" He cheers as the audience soon join in as the music begins to play. Everyone listens in as the lyrics soon follow, and I can't help but watch Harley as she concentrates on the words when they begin to play through the Studio. "....Keep you second guessing like 'Oh my god, who is she?' I get drunk on jealousy.." The song suddenly cuts off, but as if it is the easiest thing in the World, Harley quickly carries on the tune of the song and sings the next lyrics with ease. "But you'll come back each time you leave, 'cause daring I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream!" She sings before sending a teasing wink in my direction. The audience cheers loudly, letting us both know she is right as I feel my cheeks burn up at her cheeky grin. God I fucking adore this girl so much.
"YES HARLEY! Absolutely correct! And can we just give some credit for how good her voice is please? Like, hello! Is there anything you can't do?" James teases playfully making the audience laugh and cheer for Harley as I can't help but just stare adoringly at her. A small, shy smile on her face at James' words before it's Mackie's turn. He gets an easy one, singing along too Ed Sheeran. Everyone cheers as he gets the words right avoiding any shocks before James turns back to us with Harley's next song. "Okay next up for our singing Medic is.. It Girl by Jason Derulo!" James cheers and I quickly turn to give her a grin, knowing she has got this in the bag. I catch Mackie whining like a child at how he knows she's going to get this right too, making us all laugh as the music starts and Harley concentrates again on the words to come. "I've been looking under rocks and breaking locks, Just tryna find ya.. I've been like a maniac, insomniac. Five steps behind you.." The song cuts off sooner than anyone was expecting, but Harley doesn't seemed fazed as she quickly grins and begins to pick up the song without hesitation. "Tell them other girls, they can hit the exit, Check please.. 'Cause I finally found the girl of my dreams. Much more than a Grammy award, That's how much you mean to me.." She half sings, half raps almost making me laugh out loud at her playful dancing as everyone else cheers for my Soldier. I never thought she would be so at ease in this kind of situation, but I am so proud of her right now. I feel so lucky to be able to show her off like this. James quickly laughs between telling us Harley is right yet again before we all turn to Mackie as his next songs sings. But when he sings his lyrics, a huge buzzer noise goes off to let everyone know he is wrong. We all burst in to fits of laughter as James teases with the button before Mackie suddenly screams out as he feels the electric shock. I'm nearly crying seeing him like this, it is too funny to see up close. I look over and see Harley laughing just as hard before James calms us all down from our teasing, giving Mackie time to recover whilst we find out Harley final song for the night. "And last song for the Power Couple is... The Jonas Brothers, Sucker!"
"I've been dancing on top of cars and stumbling out of bars, I follow you through the dark, can't get enough.." I can't help but grin at Harley who is mouthing along to the lyrics already, making me feel very confident as the music stops and Harley's amazing voice is soon filling my ears making my heart race in my chest. "..You're the medicine and the pain, the tattoo inside my brain. And, baby, you know it's obvious.. I'm a sucker for you!" Harley points over in my direction as she finishes singing the lyrics, obviously the perfect ones as everyone cheers for her, making her smile grow as she blushes a little under the bright Studio lights. "And that settles it! It is my pleasure to announce that Harley and Lizzie are our winners tonight!" James announces as he turns to say goodnight and bring the show to a close. I can't help but rush to meet Harley half way, running into her arms to celebrate our win over Mackie. "And that is how it's done ladies and gentlemen! And now, to play us out tonight we have.." James begins to introduce the band playing us out as we join his side with Mackie, Harley's arm around my waist as we all stand looking out over the audience. Once the band begins to play, we all wave to the camera before they pan across so we can leave the stage. James leads us off as I lean into Harley's side, looking up at her huge smile and bright eyes. "Your amazing Harley Lane.." I whisper up so only she can hear before you both follow Mackie off stage and towards the crew standing by to take off our mics. James then soon joins us to say a quick thank you for tonight's show before we can head backstage to get ready to leave. "And Harley, thank you again for joining us tonight. It was a pleasure to host your first Live Interview." James gushes, making me beam over at Harley who is already talking so kindly with him. "Thank you for being so welcoming James, seriously, it never once felt like we were Live infront of millions.." She gushes as I feel my mic box being removed and I quickly thank them before joining Harley's side again. "You make a beautiful couple, and I can't wait to see you make it in this difficult World." James beams as he says his goodbyes and goes off to do his thing, leaving us alone with Mackie. "Let's get going Soldier.."
We all get backstage and join our teams as thy wait to greet us and let us know what they thought of the show. Rachel is quick to tell us both how well everything went and the positive reaction Harley is recieving already. Instantly I feel Harley relax beside me at Rachel's words as the rest of my team congratulate us before we are joined by Mackie again as he comes to say his goodbyes. "Well Harley, there is officially nothing you can't do! You smashed it out there, well done!" He tell us both genuinely, making Harley beam back as they share a quick hug before I get one. "It was great seeing you both tonight, your both coming to the Premiere next week right?" He checks with us both, making us laugh as we nod in reply. "Good! Now, I best get going. Take care of each other and I'll see you both soon." He flashes his usual cheeky smile before leaving the room with some of his team. I turn to Harley who is already look at me with adoringly soft eyes and a gentle smile. "Did you enjoy yourself tonight baby?" She asks softly, the voices around us seeming to drown out as I give my full attention to My Soldier. "I did, even more so having you by my side." I reply easily, making her smile grow impossibly wider as I get lost in her deep, hazel eyes. "Good. I'm glad I could be there and share that with you tonight, I don't know how you do it as much as you do, but it was a great experience." Harley tells me with a genuine smile, making me beam back up at her. It does take a lot of work to get used to these parts of the job, I don't think I am even now, but it does get easier with practise. And tonight, having Harley with me, made everything so much easier. She always makes me feel so free and light. No matter what it is I have to do with my day, as long as she is by my side. "It gets easier, trust me.. Now, shall we go home?" I ask and Harley softly nods in reply, leaning down to peck my lips quickly before we turn to say our goodbyes before we make our way outside. I feel the slightly cooler air when we get to the side doors, but before we walk through them, Harley stops us and slips off her suit jacket. I give her a questionable look before she drapes it over my shoulders, making my heart burst at the small gesture. "Thank you baby." I whisper before we are met by security as they get us through the small crowd and into our awaiting car with ease.
"So, how did my Soldier really find her first Live TV Interview?" I ask softly now we are well on our way home together, cuddled into Harley's side as she has her arm wrapped around me to hold me close. "Not half as bad as I thought it would be, I actually enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun." Harley tells me genuinely, making me smile against her chest, her strong heartbeat in my ear between her words. "You were incredible tonight Harley.. For someone who isn't used to all this, you never fail to amaze me with how calm and grounded you are." I ramble a little, and instantly I catch how Harley's heart begins to speed up slightly in reaction. Making my smile grow at the effect I have on her even still. "It's easy when I have someone as amazing as you by my side baby." She soon replies, kissing my temple causing my cheeks to heat up slightly. Her words never fail to have an effect on me. "Your such a sweet talker Soldier." I mumble a little shyly, snuggling into her side even more to hide my very obvious blushing cheeks. "It's a British thing.." Harley tells me softly, making me giggle as I shake my head softly against her chest. "Nope, It's a Harley thing." I hear her chuckle as she hugs me closer, letting me just relish in her warmth as we fall into a small, comfortable silence as we make our way home. As much as I have a lot of fun tonight, I can't wait to get back and climb into bed with My Soldier. I want to soak up every minute together with her between working, the small fear of Harley being called back to Tour any day now plaguing my thoughts when I am alone. I'm not ready for her to go anywhere yet. "I love you Harley.. Thank you for being there for me tonight. You always know how to calm me down and I just want you to remember that I appreciate you so fucking much." I ramble, letting my thoughts spiral slightly. But as soon as I feel Harley's heart pounding in her chest as she wraps both her incredibly strong arms around me I feel them slowly melting away. The reminder she is here with me now is enough to calm my worrying thoughts. "It was my pleasure being there with you tonight baby.. I love seeing you be the Super Star that you are." She returns so easily, my blushing cheeks burning up again at her sweet words.
We eventually get home, thanking the driver before we both head inside. I lock up behind us as Harley slips off her shoes and then heads to the kitchen to make us both some tea. I follow behind her after slipping off my heels, Harley's suit jacket still wrapped around me keeping me warm as I join her in the kitchen. I can't help but admire her standing in her suit pants and white button up shirt. Her body looks so good in anything, but seeing her in a suit and shirt is something I will never get tired of seeing. She always looks so smart. I am so lucky to be on her arm on nights like tonight. The only thing that she looks better in than a suit is her Uniform. Fuck now that's all I can picture... "Baby? You alright?" Harley's voice catches me a little by surprise as I snap my eyes up and see her standing with a hot cup of tea for me. "Yeah, sorry.. Thank you baby." I stumble out, taking the cup from her hands careful as she searches my eyes for something. "You sure? You kind of, zoned out a little.." She asks further, making me smile at how sweet she is with me. "I was just admiring you looking so smart tonight, that's all.." I confess with a nervous giggle, but Harley quickly grins as she brings her tea and sits beside me at the kitchen table. "Thank you baby.. I have to admit, it was so hard keeping my eyes to myself out on that stage tonight when you look so stunning." My entire face is on fire at her words, how does she still make me so nervous with just a few words. Harley quickly catches my red face and chuckles as she reaches her free hand over to take my hand, lacing our fingers together so perfectly. Like they were always supposed to fit together, and stay together forever. "Thank you Soldier." I manage to mumble shyly, making her grin grow across her lips as I try and calm my burning face down. "Now, how about we take these drinks to bed and we can get comfy and watch a film together?" Harley suggests and I can't stop the beaming smile hat grows across my face. "That sounds perfect." I reply easily before we both head towards my bedroom, getting into more comfortable clothes and then climbing into bed as I find something for us to watch. I love how Harley just knows exactly what I need before I even do. And being with her like this is more than enough right now.
