Engfa's POV

After Char hung up the call, I told my colleagues to speed the car as I had a bad feeling about the whole situation. Once we arrived, I ran with my squad and barged into Char's house.

The first thing I heard was someone cursing from the second floor with a constant kicking sound. From then, I realised that he was hitting someone and I knew who.

I immediately instruct my colleagues to circle Win and separate him from Char. Then, I saw her slowly about to faint from losing a lot of blood on the floor. Even judging from the blood lying on the ground, I could tell that Win tortured her as if she was an object.

I called her name to keep her awake, but it was no use when she was tired of keeping her eyes open, trying to endure the pain. Fortunately, I also gathered the ambulance with us just in case something went wrong with Char.

Everything I saw was so traumatising, especially when the paramedic examined her body and all I could see was Char covered with bruises and bumps.

I was not thinking straight when I saw her injuries, but I knew I was ready to try and kill the person who did this sadistic thing to her.

Just before the ambulance brought her to the hospital, I held her hands to promise I would torture Win with the severest punishment. "I will be back, Char..." I whispered so she could now be free from all the pain.

My heart was eating me alive to see her in her worse state. Suddenly, I felt the adrenaline to beat up Win when my colleagues escorted him to the car. With one blow, he fell on the ground because I entrusted all my power into that one punch so he could feel the same suffering as Char. I know that's not enough, but at least that relieves a bit of my fury towards him.

"What the heck!!" Win raged with so much fume like a buffalo.

(A/N: I am just exaggerating + I despise Win's character)

"What? Are you going to beat me? You know damn well I can beat your ass within a second, right?" I squashed his face on the road with my heavy-booted shoes.

I signalled my colleagues to ignore whatever I was doing because they knew he deserved this before he got locked up. I know I am being petty now, but I wish he was miserable for executing his wrongdoings and repented.

"Take him away, and as for the backup team, I want everyone to gather all the evidence inside the house that showed his treatment towards Charlotte. Understand?" I ordered the team.

"Yes, ma'am," Everyone responded to my instruction.

...

After the incident, I let my colleagues handle Win's case while I visit Char at the hospital. Even after two hours, the surgery was still ongoing, and I couldn't help but worry about her well-being. A nurse from the operation theatre (OT) room then asked me if she had a family because they needed permission to do a blood transfusion on her after drastically losing blood.

I told the nurse she had no one, but I informed her that I was her best friend and showed my police batch so she could accept me as Char's relative. Thankfully, they made it exceptional for me since it was an emergency.

For the next two hours, the doctor in charge gave me an update on her state. I was told that she had very low red blood cells with both rib and jaw fractured. Fortunately, she was stabilised after the surgery and will wake up in 1-2 days, depending on her will to recover.

When she was moved to another room, most of her body parts were enveloped with bandages. I was helpless to see her bedridden, looking very weak.

But I still hold on to her to give her the support and strength to stay alive.

Author's note:
