Charlotte's POV
As I wondered, thinking about what Heidi said earlier made me feel like I was making a big mistake. What would happen if Fa knew I was planning on leaving her again?
She would probably blame herself, thinking I left because of her rejection. Maybe, I could just be there for her, like what Heidi told me. I do not necessarily have to abandon my only best friend and ruin my friendship with her.
Just imagining a world without Fa would be a nightmare for me. I didn't want to let my fear get the best of me because I wanted to be happy too. I can't give up this easily.
So, right before the announcement of the last call to my destination, I made my way out, hoping that Heidi would still be there and take me to Fa.
Once I went out, I couldn't see Heidi, making me think she had already left. I take it that she's still somewhere near the airport, provided that we last met 30 minutes ago.
Thinking that she was not far from here, I called her, and she sounded panicked. "What's wrong?" I asked her.
On the other line, Heidi summarized what was going on after I went into the departure gate, "I called Engfa to stop you from going, but it's too late for us. And when she was about to exit the airport, she fainted. I don't know what happened to her, but I could tell she was not okay, Char..."
Right then, it hit me to the chest when I found out about Fa, blaming myself for making her this way, "Where is she now?" I took in the information even though it hurts to hear that Fa's not doing well.
"I called the ambulance, and she would be hospitalized nearby. Wait...how can you call me? I thought you'd already left?" She now noticed that I could call her, knowing that I was already travelling at this time and had no access to the internet.
"I am still at the airport. I've changed my mind. I will be there in a minute..." I tried to end the conversation soon to make my way to the hospital.
...
After arriving at the hospital, I saw Heidi standing outside the waiting area and I immediately asked about Fa's condition. "How is she?" I am concerned about Fa's well-being.
"She's going to be okay. The doctor said she was in emotional distress and just needed to eat more food and drink a lot of water." Heidi informed me and left me alone to not complicate me anymore.
At the same time, a nurse approached me to get the guardian's contact number to sign for approval to discharge Fa. And from what I remember, she's close to her mother. So, I searched through her phone's contact and came across her mother's number.
I dialled, and she answered, "Hello, dear~" Thinking that the one calling was her daughter, I politely introduced myself and told her about Fa being admitted.
"Is there something wrong with her?" Her mother sounded anxious. Before her mother made assumptions about Fa's health, I reassured her that Fa would be okay and thankful that it was not serious.
After the call, I went to Fa's room and saw her looking very pale and tired. "This is all my fault. I need to make it up to her for running away from her without saying goodbyes," I feel guilty.
...
While waiting for Fa to wake up, I kept her accompany so she didn't feel lonely. Not long after that, her mother came and greeted me.
"Thank you, dear, for taking care of my daughter." Then, she took another glimpse of me and said, "by the way, I've never seen you before. Are you her new friend?" Her mother becomes curious about me.
"Ah...yes, ma'am," I smiled even though I knew that I was the reason why her daughter was at the hospital. "I will let you have a moment with your daughter. If you need anything, just let me know. I will be at the waiting area." I offered my service.
...
As I was about to fall asleep, I overheard another voice that sounded like Fa. Suddenly, my body automatically makes its way to the room and smiles at her, seeing that she's awake and feeling much better.
"I am here, Fa...and I will never leave you again," I softly said to her and made my way to hold her hand, reassuring Fa that I was real.
On the other hand, her mother smirked suspiciously at me, making me embarrassed about what Fa said before I entered the room. Immediately after that, she excused us and left us alone.
But we didn't know what to do next.
Author's note:
Good vibes only 🙌
