Pasilip sa (Chapter 21 - Confusion)
"I thought you l-loved me." Luisa said in her shaky voice. Unti-unti na ring tumulo ang luha nito sa mga mata.
Umigting ang kanyang panga because he felt guilty. He's the reason of those tears. He hurt her. He... betrayed her.
"I thought so.. too. I'm sorry." That's all he could say. He knew no matter what words of apologies he would say wouldn't matter now for Luisa. All she could think and feel right now is his betrayal.
He heard Luisa scoffed. Hinahaplos-haplos nito ang tiyan habang nakayuko doon. Tahimik na umiiyak.
"S-so all along, y-you were just p-pretending that you l-love me?"
Bumagsak ang balikat ni Knife.
"Yes."
But he could still answer directly looking at the woman.
Walang na yata akong ibang babaeng mamahalin kundi si Aminah lamang. Pipi niyang bulong sa hangin.
"And we can do a paternity test so we can confirm that I'm the real father of your baby." He added coldly.
Bumalik na naman sa kanyang alaala ang mga oras na nalalasing siya at sinasamantala ni Luisa ang kanyang kahinaan. Yes, there are times that he wanted to use her to forget his feelings for Aminah at siguro nga naging mahina rin siya kaya napasok siya sa ganitong sitwasyon ngayon. Lalaki siya ay may pangangailangan din. Hindi niya itatanggi iyon.
"No need."
His forehead creased. Nagtataka siyang humakbang palapit sa babae. Huminto siya nang medyo malapit na siya dito. Samantalang si Luisa ay nananatili pa ring nakayuko at hinihimas ang may kaumbukang tiyan.
"T-the b-baby is n-not yours. I'm s-sorry for lying. I.. think this is enough. Enough for me stop this madness. I'm done. I'm done, Knife."
