There was something about Wei Wuxian that no one can figure out. He is one of the most capable of cultivators in the cultivation world, yet he is always berated by those who he calls "family." Those people are from the Yunmeng Jiang Sect. More importantly, Wei Wuxian is bullied all the time by none other than the sect leader's other half, his wife, Yu Ziyuan, known as Violet Spider. She has a deep hatred for Wei Wuxian, and it all has a lot to do with his birth mother, Cangse Sanren. Wei Wuxian questioned why his parents left him in their hands. Jiang Fengmian was a decent man in Wuxian's eyes, but Yu Ziyuan was just unbearable.

Wei Wuxian always wondered about his real parents. He felt out of place with the Jiang's, but he had no choice but to stay. He wondered what he was really meant for. He wanted a proper family most of all, but he never felt that with the Jiang's.

The only thing he had from his family was a white feather that he kept close to his heart. He wondered what kind of feather it was, as it glistened with golden glitter in the sunlight. To Wei Wuxian, the feather meant something.

Why would he have it if it didn't mean something?

Wei Wuxian sighed as he was about to put the feather away, but was distracted by footsteps coming from behind him.

"A'Xian," A young but gentle female voice called out.

Wei Wuxian turned to the female who spoke to him, "ShiJie," he said as she sat beside him at the docks.

"That is a beautiful feather, where did you find it?" She asked.

"I had it on me since I was young," Wuxian answered, "What did you need?"

"We are leaving now," She said.

"Where are we going again?" Wuxian asked.

"Do you ever pay attention to what anyone says other than me?" She asked.

"Um, sometimes," Wuxian answered her.

"We are heading to Gusu, remember? please behave for the sake of Mother. I don't want her to yell at you more than she does already."

"Alright," Wuxian said standing, "I can't promise though. I don't like to make empty promises."

"I know you don't, Just please, behave" Yanli demanded.

"Mnn," Wuxian said, grabbing his sword and hopping in a boat with her and his other sworn sibling, Jiang Cheng.

Jiang Yanli, was the elder sister of Jiang Cheng, and the elder sworn sister of Wei Wuxian. Many say that her appearance was described as only above average at best. Her complexion was snowy white. To an initial observer, Jiang Yanli's personality was mild, with nothing too notable. She enjoyed cooking for others, especially her brothers, and was implied to prefer cooking over cultivation. Underneath her gentle and polite exterior, however, Jiang Yanli was fiercely protective of her family. She refused to tolerate any insults towards her sworn brother Wei Wuxian, and she alone possessed the ability to reason with Wei Wuxian.

Jiang Cheng, the youngest, is described as exceptionally handsome in a sharp way. His eyebrows are thin, and his almond eyes possess a composed vigor, yet resemble two bolts of lightning when he has the intention to attack. His posture emits an air of arrogance and overconfidence. He is ranked fifth on the list of best-looking young gentlemen in the cultivation world. He wears the violet jianxiu robes of the Yunmeng Jiang Clan.

Even in his childhood, Jiang Cheng's character falls under the trope popularly labeled as "tsundere." Outwardly, he is bad-tempered and often compared to his mother . He possesses a deep inferiority complex about his father 's favoritism of , and his mother's continued reminders that his cultivation is inferior to Wei Wuxian's. As a result, Jiang Cheng believes that his father does not like him or his personality, and this remains a sore spot.
