The White Phoenix

Chapter 13 - Nirvana

The Burial Mounds is famed as a haven for walking corpses and vengeful ghosts. Throughout the mountain, skeletal remains poke up from the soil from the sheer number of bodies buried here. Crude houses line the mountain, partially demolished and burned from the the current battle within the mounds. At the top of the mountain is a cave with a mouth fifty feet wide – the Demon-Slaughtering Cave, and inside the Demon Slaughtering Cave is a Blood Pool. A pool that is just of pure yin energy.

Annchi was trying her hardest to hold off Wei Wuxian. Being that Wei Wuxian was not back to his god self, he was a bit weaker than Annchi. Annchi was a Valkyrie after all. Valkyries are natural born fighters and are to help protect others. At the moment though, with Wei Wuxian the resentment was making him stronger than normal. Annchi was having to use double to strength to keep up.

When she had her chance, she took out her Devine weapon which is a spear. With it, she can do much more fighting abilities and power attacks. Wei Wuxian just kept throwing fire her way. No matter how much water Annchi tries to throw to him this time, Wei Wuxian causes it to evaporate before it even hits his body.

Out of nowhere, Wei Wuxian was struck with holy lightning. Getting hit with it, he was down in just a second. Wei Wuxian didn't let it keep him down though as he just stood back up again. He was struck again with a second volt, this time causing him to engulf into flames.

"What is this?" Wei Wuxian Scowled.

"You are going through a Nirvana," a voice said not far from him to the left.

"Tian Jun," Annchi bowed.

Wei Changze and his wife was beside him along with Mo Yuan, Lan Qiren, Lan Xichen, and Lan Wangji, also Jiang Fengmian. Yu Ziyuan will be dealt with accordingly a bit later. Jiang Fengmian will also have to take a punishment for allowing the abuse to happen again and again.

"Who are you?" Wei Wuxian asked through his teeth.

"I'm your grandfather, these two beside me, they are your real parents," Tian Jun told him.

"What?" Wei Wuxian immediately calmed down.

"You look so handsome my son," the woman, Cangse told him.

"Why should I believe any of you?" Wei Wuxian asked.

"Wei Ying, they speak the truth," Lan Wangji spoke up.

"Shut Up Lan Zhan! I don't want to hear from you!" Wei Wuxian Scolded.

Lan Xichen was shocked to hear someone tell his brother to shut up. It upset him quite a bit but knowing Wei Wuxian was getting ready to go through a nirvana, he had to let it go; mostly because Wei Wuxian wouldn't remember any of what will happen and what has happened.

"You said nirvana?" Annchi asked.

"Yes, it's the only way to get him cleansed properly and to start fresh again. He has a place set for him to stay. You and Yīnuò can continue to watch over him and protect him as he grows up this time," Tian Jun explained.

"Rebirth?" Wei Wuxian questioned.

"Yes, rebirth," Cangse told him.

"After Wei Wuxian is reborn, I want a few of you to stay with me and cleanse this place. We can't let it remain like this," Tian Jun said to the others.

"Yes Tian Jun," said the others.

With once final volt of lightning conjured up by Tian Jun, Wei Wuxian, like a comet, shot into the sky. A white Phoenix with gold flames emerged from the fire. Hotter and hotter did the fire go as the Phoenix began to burn to ash. Still, just like a comet the Phoenix soared through the sky and with a flash, the sky light into a bright white and gold light. The ashes rest on the ground at last.

Carefully, Tian Jun waved his hand over the ashes and emerged an egg. The egg was white with blue and gold embellishments and decorations. The egg was then placed into a light blue blanket and was given to Wangji.

"It may seem weird but the egg will hatch in about five days. Out will emerge Wei Wuxian but as an infant. I suggest you learn to take care of one," Tian Jun explained.

Lan Wangji nodded in response, "I understand."

"We will keep an eye on you all," Wei Changze told the Lans', "also, please take care of our son."

"He will be in safe hands," Lan Xichen told Wei Changze.

Annchi and Yīnuò were going to check on Wei Wuxian every so often, but in the meantime, they are going to head home and train further. Yīnuò needed to catch up to Annchi's level of fighting, and Annchi needed to strengthen her abilities. Fighting and holding off Wei Wuxian was a bit challenging for Annchi, and he was only a cultivator. She needed to train.

Lan Wangji took the egg Wei Wuxian was in, back to his place, The Jingshi. He also had a second bed brought over for Lan Xichen as he was going to help Wangji with Wei Wuxian. Lan Qiren met up with the two at the Jingshi just to check up on them. When Lan Wangji entered the Jingshi, he went over to his bed and set the egg down on it. He wasn't sure how this all worked. Wei Wuxian was now in an egg. He thought gods were born like any other person.

"I don't understand something," Lan Wangji said sitting on the bed.

"What?" Lan Xichen asked.

"I know how the everyday person is born, but was Wei Ying always born out of an egg?" Lan Wangji asked.

"I think it is just for his rebirth," Lan Xichen answered, "it is something we can ask Cangse or Changze later."

"They also called Wei Ying my soulmate...what am I supposed to do? He is so much younger now," Lan Wangji wondered.

"Wangji, once he reaches eighteen he will go back to being a god. He is around fifty-thousand years old according to his parents. As of now it won't matter. Later it won't matter either. Use this time to make a friendship with him," Lan Xichen told him.

"Since we are raising him in our sect, will he have to wear our robes or the forehead ribbon?" Lan Wangji asked.

"Robes, yes," Lan Qiren answered, "as for the forehead ribbon. A child doesn't get one until they reach the age of five. We can ask him if he wants one...when you marry in the future he would get a ribbon anyway."

"Marry?" Lan Wangji asked.

"Did you not get it?" Lan Xichen told him, "you are soulmates. It only makes sense."

Lan Wangji nodded, "I guess so," he said with a sigh and looked at the Phoenix egg, "are we suppose to do something specific with the egg or is it find just sitting around?"

"I imagine we at least have to keep it warm," Lan Qiren said.

Just then, there was a knock, and Lan Xichen opened the door to find Wei Changze standing there with his wife, "Hello," Lan Xichen greeted.

"We only stopped in for a moment," Changze told him, "we brought some things. A couple insulated blankets to keep the egg warm that is also fire retardant. Make sure while in one of the blankets he sits in hot coals until the egg starts to hatch. It will be hot to the touch but to Wangji, I'm guessing not."

"Thank you, we were actually wondering if we needed to doing anything specific," Lan Xichen said, "also, my brother asked an interesting question to me earlier. Was Wei Ying born from an egg at first or was it natural?"

"Natural birth," Cangse answered, "the egg is just for his rebirth stage."

"I assumed as much," Lan Wangji said as he wrapped the egg in one of the insulated blankets and placed it in a cauldron with coals on the bottom. Sitting inside the cauldron would keep the egg warm constantly.

Soon enough, Wei Changze and Cangse Sanren would be leaving in a moment, "we are heading to Lotus Pier. Tian Jun is going to give Yu Ziyuan a piece if his mind," Cangse said.

"She really did abuse Wei Wuxian. Jiang Fengmian would also have to answer a crime of allowing it to happen even though he knew it was going on," Wei Changze spoke. Wei Changze and Cangse then said their goodbyes and left.
