Chapter 50 - Wedding Plans

"Marriage in the Celestial Realm is always a very important and exciting part of a god or goddess's life. Because Wei Ying is a prince, that is tripled, so everything has to be done specifically. I am not sure how things are here in Gusu, but we can hold two ceremonies if you like because we do not want to take this away from Lan Wangji. One ceremony to celebrate them in the celestial realm, and one here, for the cultivation realm.

"There are specific things that need to be done, royal family members have honors that are to be respected. A royal statement will be made, announcing the accomplishments that Lan Wangji had achieved before he ascended and his current position. He will be then appointed as the Crown Prince's husband. He will then be brought forth to Wei Ying at the main palace to perform the ceremony.

We can then expect that we can move to Gusu to perform any rituals you have here before we sent the two off for their one on one time. The feast usually goes on without them as they are not available...for obvious reasons. Any gifts given will be put off in a special place for the two to deal with later. They then will have three months of a honeymoon that is set up by Wei Ying's family," Tian Jun explained, "it's a lot to take in but I am guessing you are doing okay?"

"Yes," Lan Xichen said, "we usually do a simple ceremony which is prostrating three time at the ancestral shrine and we will have a Gusu forehead ribbon made to celebrate the newest member of the family. It is a sacred item we at Gusu strive for. Otherwise it is small. We can set up a site so the other sects can come."

"Instead of two separate sites, can't we just have one site?" Wei Ying asked, "that way everyone is all together and won't have to worry about moving from place to place?"

"We could, but it would have to be a place both realms are comfortable in meeting and to accommodate the rituals that you two have to perform," Tian Jun answered.

"Would it be possible to have the other sects go to the Palace just for the one ceremony? The Lan sect could bring what they need ahead of time too," Wei Ying questioned.

"It is possible but it would have to be okay with the Lan Sect and the council," Tian Jun said.

"As king, can't you just say what goes?" Wei Ying asked.

"I could but there is a council for a reason. The others on the council are entitled to their own opinions. Same with conference meetings here in the cultivation world," Tian Jun said.

"Then find a nice meadow and set up tents," Wei Ying said, "I do not care for ceremonies...I just want to marry. I feel like it doesn't have to be so difficult to discuss."

"Wei Ying, take it easy, we are just talking about ideas and plans," Lan Wangji said. "No need to get worked up."

"Worked up? I just don't want to go through two ceremonies. One should be enough," Wei Ying said.

"I know," Wangji said, "just, try to calm down."

Wei Ying sighed and rolled his eyes, "look, there are so many places to have a ceremony, so just pick one place. We will find a way to get everyone there. If it's too much trouble, then I will just take Lan Zhan somewhere and elope," he said, "this is getting ridiculous."

"Wei Ying, calm down," Lan Wangji said again.

Wei Ying sighed again, "fine," he said and stormed out of the elegance hall.

"I think he is just getting frustrated. He is eager to marry is all," Lan Xichen said, "there are plenty of places to hold a ceremony. We can just hold it at your palace and then we can do separate things later if need be. Lan Wangji is technically marrying into your home as Wei Ying is a prince. He and Wangji have plans to come back here after the wedding anyway, so let's just plan for one ceremony."

"Very well," Tian Jun agreed, "and I am well aware of Wei Ying. I can understand his concerns and anxieties. We will see what we can do, but we have yet to set a date."

"For Gusu, it only takes two to three months for the new robes and forehead ribbon to arrive," Lan Qiren said.

"To plan an event that is quite big like this, it takes at least a minimum of six months. So if we plan for maybe a year from now, everything can be set and ready," Tian Jun suggested and looked at Lan Wangji, "would you thing Wei Ying will be okay with that?"

"Knowing him, he'd go with the soonest possible date," Wangji said.

"Then what about seven months. As it gives a little more time for those at Sky Kingdom," Lan Xichen said.

"Seven months should be fine, I will go find Wei Ying," Lan Wangji said. The others nodded in agreement before Lan Wangji left. It actually didn't take long for him to find Wei Ying either, as he was just sitting in his room of the Jingshi, "seven months...at Sky kingdom is the plan," Wangji told him.

Wei Ying jumped as Wangji spoke. He was too lost in thought that he didn't know when Wangji would come back, "what?" He asked.

"Will seven months, and to have the ceremony at Sky Kingdom be fine for you?" Wangji asked.

"Okay," he said, "I'm sorry for my outburst, I just hate it when people talk and talk and talk...basically I hate it when others talk in circles and get nowhere."

"I know, and if it were up to me, I'd want to elope too," Wangji told him.

Wei Ying chuckled, "we still could, just appease the others with the ceremony."

"I don't think we should, even though it sounds invigorating," Wangji said as he sat down.

"Here I thought you'd call me an arrogant and temperamental prince," Wei Ying said.

"A'Ying, I may not have been around you for fifty-thousand years, but I have been around you for eighteen. I know enough that you are not arrogant or temperamental. You have a right to voice your opinions...though it was a bit surprising that you spoke so quickly like that," Wangji told him.

"Yeah," he said, "before meeting you, and the whole, Nirvana thing, I was always someone that others cared little to get an opinion from. Even if it involves me to begin with...I just want to be able to be heard for once and be able to speak for myself at times."

"You do not have to worry about that with me," Wangji told him, "I listen to you...after the ceremony we will have three months to ourselves. We can talk about what we want to do. Tian Jun is still king, your father has yet to take the throne...there is also his sister too. You have a long time before the throne really goes to you. I'm sure you can do whatever you want until then."

"That is true," Wei Ying said. Wei Ying then held out his arms, "can you hold baby A'Ying?"

Lan Wangji let out a light laugh as he moved closer to Wei Ying and pulled him into his arms, "baby? You are older then me."

"No, I'm baby," he said.

Lan Wangji couldn't help but laugh a bit harder. Wei Ying wrapped his arms around Wangji's neck before their lips met. Wei Ying honestly just wanted this. Ceremony or not, he just wanted to be with the love of his life.
