Lan Ying was sitting in the Jingshi with Lan Qiren, Lan Xichen, and Lan Wangji. They had some questions about what had happened that day at the mounds.

"What kind of questions?" Lan Ying asked.

"When I went to get Guiwang off you, his hand turned into flames. He has the dragon scale and the phoenix feather in that hand...why?" Wangji asked.

Lan Ying smiled, "He was greedy," he answered, "a dragon scale and a phoenix feather are two sacred things. To a dragon, a scale is a gift to show you care and trust the individual. It was forcefully given to him, therefore, it placed a curse on him. It was already setting in by the time it was in his hand. The Phoenix, like me, is known for its healing properties. Since it was taken forcefully, it gave off opposite effects. Meaning, he was poisoned, so the feather made it ten times worse. The poison started to feel like it was burning through his veins. His hand set on fire was the final effect, and it killed him, turning him to ashes. Anyone who was under his control vanished along with him. Their souls will suffer for two millennia in the darkest places of hell and then be torn apart, never to be reborn. So the Wen's that were involved, Meng Yao, Su She, and the man in black, all got because of Guiwang's greed."

"So, if you knew that was what he wanted, the scale and the feather, you had to make it so you had to give it to him by force he he took one?" Xichen asked.

"Yes," Lan Ying said, "dragons are very powerful and sacred creatures. They are also very devoted to those they love and care for. If they are threatened or their partner or family is threatened, they will eventually lash out. The Lan Sect's history shows that they are descendants from dragons. The rarest one, the Angelic Dragon. They are dragons of light and are very kind and known for their gentleness and righteousness. If they are threatened by a dark force then they have the urge to keep fighting, no matter the cost."

"You knew of our history?" Xichen asked.

"Not entirely," Lan Ying said, "during the time where everyone was planning the wedding, I looked into the archives in Sky Kingdom. I wanted to know more about the Angelic Dragon as it was what Lan Zhan is...which reminds me, I read something that I really wanted to try."

"What?" Wangji asked.

Lan Ying smiled and then reached up and started to lightly rub and scratch behind Wangji's ear. Wangji was just about to protest but was suddenly taken aback by the gesture. Wangji closed his eyes and leaned further into Lan Ying, arching his head a bit so Lan Ying could have better access. Just then, Wangji's horns and tail appeared, and he started to purr like a cat.

Lan Ying giggled, "it actually does work," he said pulling his hand away.

Lan Wangji sat there a bit dazed as he was trying to figure out what just happened. He looked around and saw his long white tail laying across the floor. Lan Wangji just realized that he had a weakness and Lan Ying knew it. He liked having his ear scratched. It made him melt like butter under the hot sun.

"Wha-What did you do?" Wangji asked as he was finally coming out of his daze.

"I wanted to find out if dragons like being pet or pampered at all. Turns out, they love having their ear scratched like that. There are others that I have to try but I will do that later," Lan Ying said.

"Why?" Wangji asked.

"Because you pamper me all the time," Lan Ying replied.

"I have to admit, that was interesting to see," Xichen said, "Wangji just relaxed instantly."

"And I made him relax so much that he felt safe enough to reveal his tail and horns. It's usually very seldom that you ever see them out unless they are in their full dragon form," Lan Ying said.

"Do you have any soft spots like I do?" Wangji asked.

"If I let my wings out, which is hardly ever, I like them getting pet or scratched. My mother used to when I was little but now I don't let anyone touch them," Lan Ying said.

"Can I?" Wangji asked.

Lan Ying looked at him, "now?" He asked.

"As mush as we all have been around you, you never let your wings out," Wangji said.

Lan Ying sighed and decided to let them out. His large wings came out, white like snow with a shimmering gold in the light. Lan Wangji looked at them and finally got a decent look at Lan Ying's wings.

"Your wings are beautiful, has anyone ever told you that?" Wangji asked as he reached our and gentle started to pet Lan Ying's wing that was closest to him.

"Just from my parents," Lan Ying said.

Wangji could see what Lan Ying meant by comfort when being pet like this. He experienced it when Lan Ying scratched behind his ear. Lan Ying closed his eyes as his wing stretched out to its full length. There was a spot just on the inside of Lan Ying's wing where Wangji found it to most favorable. The two were so lost in each other that they didn't even notice Lan Xichen and Lan Qiren leave.

Lan Wangji picked up Lan Ying and snuggled up with each other in bed. Wangji got another opportunity to pet Lan Ying's wings. Wangji smiled as he felt relaxed. He was happy that Lan Ying was not thinking about the recent events that happened. He was doing okay, which was good but Wangji still kept his guard up so he can see when Lan Ying is getting uncomfortable.
