When Wei Ying returned to Jingshi with Wangji that evening after training, he was exhausted. Not only did he feel sleepy but he hadn't felt like this before. Almost as if his energy was just about gone.
"A'Zhan, why am I so tired?" Wei Ying asked, slurring some of his words.
"You spent a lot of time training today. You used a lot of energy. You not only did archery but you learn some sword skills as well. It can happen when you are cultivating. It only means it is working though. As you will get tired, your body is learning to adapt and grow," Wangji explained.
"I don't like feeling this tired, and my arms and legs hurt," Wei Ying complained, "is that normal? How are you not tired?"
"I am sleepy, but I am older than you. My energy levels are higher and I have been training since I was around your age. You will get better over time," Wangji answered, "and yes, it is normal."
"I still don't like it," Wei Ying said pouting.
Wangji smirked at him, "want to sit in a warm bath for a bit? It might help," Wangji suggested.
"Okay," Wei Ying said.
Wangji prepared a bath for Wei Ying and helped him get in once the water was ready. Wangji ended up helping Wei Ying clean up and wash his hair as he was pretty tired to really do anything. Wangji remembered how he used to feel this way. Feeling so tired that he couldn't even think properly. He was happy to help Wei Ying as much as he could.
"A'Zhan? Why was GeGe upset earlier?" Wei Ying asked, "did something happen?"
"I do not wish to frighten you," Wangji replied.
"I'm not frightened or scared if I know that you are there for me," Wei Ying said as he turned to face Wangji.
"The scary man stopped by today, he just said some things that upset GeGe," Wangji told him honestly, "that man will not come near you."
"If I keep up with my training, can I be stronger than him?" Wei Ying asked.
"You can, but you have to know this, no matter how much someone may seem to dislike you, always remember to be the better person. No matter how strong you are or how much more powerful you become, you should always remember to only fight to protect yourself. And, fight for the innocent," Wangji told him.
"A'Zhan, I do not wish to harm or fight anyone. I want to protect people. I want to do the right thing and fight for justice and get rid of evil. I do not want to become what my fears what me to be. I want to be better," Wei Ying told him.
"Then, you will," Wangji said, "do you remember the Lan Sect's words?"
"You mean word, Rightousness?" Wei Ying answered, "the sect strives on doing the right thing and equality. It should not matter the person or background, as long as they are respectful and responsible as well."
"That is correct," Wangji nodded and gently tapped his finger to Wei Ying's nose, "such a smart boy you are becoming."
"That is because A'Zhan is a good teacher," Wei Ying told him.
"Only because you are a good student," Wangji said as he finished up Wei Ying's bath. He helped him out of the tub and let Wei Ying go dry off and dress.
"A'Zhan, can I sleep by you tonight?" Wei Ying asked as he returned to the main room of the Jingshi.
"Of course, I can let baby A'Ying sleep by me," Wangji told him.
"I'm not a baby, I am ten years old," Wei Ying argued.
"Are you sure, are you sure you are not three?" Wangji teased.
