"I guess that I don't need that, though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know"

As we walked inside, I could clearly hear the loud commotion of people and music. I was instantly hit by the bright led lights, which I absolutely hated. There were multiple people dancing on each side, occasionally bumping into me, causing me to flinch. Frantically looking around, I hadn't even realized Nathaniel was introducing me to people.

"Y/n?" He taps my shoulder, gaining my attention.

"Y-what?"

"I said this is Meredith, Cristina, and Mark."

I politely extend my hand, "It's nice to meet you all."

It was hard to focus on what they were saying, it felt like my senses were heightened. I could feel my breathing getting heavier, trying my best to calm down. Nathanial suddenly pulls me to the side, "Y/n, are you alright?"

I breathe out slowly, trying to compose myself. "I'm fine, this all just feels new for me."

Before any more words could be exchanged, I hear Mark yell loudly. "Let's get drinks!"

I couldn't help but remember the dark place I used to be in, drinking to the point I would pass out. After losing Elizabeth, I was completely lost to the darkness. It consumed me from the inside, and the process to pull myself together was almost impossible. Lately, every memory I've buried deep inside has been starting to resurface, and I needed to forget. I guess a few shots won't hurt.

As the night passed, the more drunk I got. At first it was one drink, then two turned into six. I was never someone who can handle a few shots, much less multiple drinks. "So Y/n, where are you from?" I hear Meredith start a conversation.

"I'm originally from New York, but I moved here a few years ago."

"Wow! I would've never guessed you were a New Yorker."

I chuckle, "That's what everyone says."

Before I knew it, I was being pulled out to the dance floor along with Meredith. I let myself fully let loose, my hips swaying to the music. "I love this song!" I yell.

"Tonight I want all of you tonight
Give me everything tonight
For all we know, we might not get tomorrow
Let's do it tonight"

I was so into the music, I didn't realize how close Meredith and I were. My back was faced towards her front while she held my shoulders, allowing me to freely dance. "I'll get us more drinks!" She yells, loud enough for me to hear.

The more time went by, the more disoriented I became. I had no idea what time it was, but quite frankly, I didn't care. As Meredith and I continued dancing, our foreheads were nearly touching. I could see her start to move in closer, but I immediately stepped back. "I- I need some air." I reply, trying to make my way outside.

Before I could even make it to the door, my eyes locked with emerald ones. As we maintained eye contact, I could feel myself become dizzier, the walls quickly starting to move in. Everything became muffled, I held onto my chest as I felt it tightening. I never thought I would see her again. My heart was pounding so hard, I could hear it. Tears were pouring down my face as I tried to catch a breath.

"Y/n.." I was so focused on calming myself down, I didn't even notice she was standing in front of me.

I kept my gaze down to the floor, too afraid to look up. The sound of her voice made my blood boil, I felt goosebumps spread across my skin. Whatever control I had before this moment, was entirely gone.
