"Oh, darling, all of the city lights
Never shine as bright as your eyes"

It's been a week since Elizabeth and I had our talk, and needless to say, I felt relieved. It was a much needed conversation for both of us. I understood her perspective, and it was a weight off my chest to confess my feelings to her. Telling her about my proposal was undoubtedly the hardest part, but it would've been worse to keep it bottled up. That night, my life completely changed, and not for the better. But, hopefully, this can be the start of new beginnings.

Today is Elizabeth's birthday, and the twins have been secretly helping me plan a small party for her. Excitement was coursing through my veins, I couldn't wait to see her reaction.

I'm pulled out of my thoughts by Nathaniel's voice. "Y/n? Am I dreaming? This is a sight for sore eyes!"

I couldn't help but chuckle at his comment. "I have no idea what you mean."

He rolls his eyes, "I mean I haven't seen you around these days!"

"Yeah, you've made that known multiple times, Nath."

I notice him observe me, as if he was trying to figure something out. "Did you and Chloe finally make it official?" He teases.

I shrugged, "I don't know what you mean."

"You seem different, happier than usual."

Truth was, ever since Elizabeth and I's talk, I've had a sudden wave of bliss, which wasn't surprising. Though, I couldn't bring myself to go to the next step with Chloe, it's like something was holding me back.

"I am, truly. I had a long, mature talk with Elizabeth and since then I've felt nothing but happiness."

He gives me a big smile, "You deserve it! Just be careful, Y/n."

"I will, we're taking things day by day."

It is now a little after noon, meaning my shift is finally over. Thankfully, I didn't have many surgeries or I would've been insanely exhausted. After I changed into my normal clothes, I made my way outside to my car to head over to Elizabeth's house.

As I drove, I diverted my attention over to my favorite flower shop. I didn't waste a second to turn into the parking lot, excitedly walking inside to purchase Elizabeth's favorite flowers. Like always, I was immediately hit by the fresh smell of flowers and plants. Walking over to the baby's-breath section, I chose a bouquet of white and pink colored ones.

I stood patiently behind the register, waiting for the florist to check out the flowers. I was beyond excited for today, I hope everything goes perfectly.

As I walked back to my car, I felt like I was floating on air. I felt so empty and lost without Elizabeth, and despite my heart still healing, I was more than grateful that we were on good terms. She was earning my trust back, slowly but surely.

Eventually, I'd finally made it to her house. Nervously walking towards the door, I took a deep breath before knocking, and I could hear footsteps getting closer  until she opened the door. "Y/n?"

I held the flowers up with a huge smile, "Happy birthday."

She immediately engulfs me into a hug, which surprised me to say the least. "Thank you so much." She says while pulling back, teary eyed.

"Are you ready to go?"

She gives me a confused look, "Where?"

"That's for me to know and for you to find out." I replied with a smirk.

She cleared her throat, "You're really not gonna tell me where we're going?"
