"I came here with a load
And it feels so much lighter now I met you"I hummed the song that's been stuck in my head for days, waiting for the popcorn to finish popping. It's been two weeks since Liz told me the news about closing the purchase on the house we've been looking at. It all felt so surreal, shocked would be an understatement. I still couldn't believe how amazing things were going. I mean, we're buying a whole house together. Two years ago, I never could've imagined things would be going this well.
Lately, I've been trying to ignore the nagging feeling that something bad could happen any second now. It's probably just from the stress and nerves of moving to an entirely new house. But, despite the anxiety I've been dealing with, underneath it all was pure excitement and happiness. This was going to be the start of a new, beautiful future with the love of my life.
Once the popcorn finished, I took it out of the microwave and grabbed a bowl to pour it in. Before I could head back into the living room, I was startled by the loud ringing of my phone. I picked it up from the counter, checking who it was.
"Hey, Scar. It's always good to hear from you, but why are you calling at ten pm?"
She chuckles, "Oh, hush. I was checking to see what time I needed to be at your house tomorrow."
"Oh, right. The movers get here at nine am, so you'll need to be here at around eight."
"Good to know." She starts, "But, how are you feeling?"
"What do you mean?"
She sighs, "You know what, Y/N."
"I mean, I'm fine. I have to be. Things are going perfectly. Like I've said before, I've never been good with big changes." I chuckled, "So my nerves are all over the place, but I'm great."
Scarlett didn't say a word, I guess my response wasn't very convincing. "I'm ranting, aren't I?"
"Yeah, you are. But Y/n, if you need to talk, I'm here."
I exhaled, "Thank you, Scar. But I promise I'm fine."
"Okay. Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow then. Goodnight."
"Alright, goodnight."
After hanging up, I grabbed the bag, letting all the air out before pouring it inside the bowl. Once doing so, I rushed back to the couch, eager to put on a movie. "I'm sorry for the wait sunshine, Scarlett called me."
"It's okay." Liz stated. "Oh, is everything alright?"
I place the popcorn on the coffee table, laying a few blankets across Liz before taking a seat. "Yeah, she was just calling about tomorrow."
She hummed, "And how do you feel about that? Tomorrow?"
I laid my head on her shoulder, taking the remote and switching through the channels. "I'm beyond excited, my love."
Liz furrows her brows, cupping my face to turn my attention over to her. "Are you sure? You've been–off lately."
I gave her a reassuring smile, noticing how worried she was. "Hey, I promise. I will admit, this is a big change for me. But, I'm excited, truly. This is the start of something new."
