"I've got my eye on you"
I definitely woke up on the right side of the bed today. We're finally in the month of February, and over the past couple of weeks, Chloe and I have gotten closer than ever. It's been a few days since I've stayed in my apartment, since Chloe insisted that I stay over, and I didn't fight it, because she's been making me the happiest I've been in a while. It's been a bit since I've heard from Elizabeth, but we're taking things slow, so I didn't pay it much attention.
As soon as I fully awakened, my gaze set straight on Chloe. Both her arms were wrapped around my waist, with her head nuzzled against my chest. My mouth immediately curled into a smile, her presence was safe and warm. She was snoring ever so lightly, and I didn't waste a second to take comfort in this moment. I started softly tracing imaginary lines on her face, I could feel my heart start to flutter as I began to take in everything. For the first time in a while, I felt at peace.
Eventually, she slowly started to flutter her eyes open, her eyes immediately meeting mine. I took this moment to place a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Good morning."
She quickly gave me a lazy smile, "Good morning."
She begins to rub tiny circles on my knuckles, no words needed to be exchanged. I could feel the blood rushing to my cheeks the more I felt her touch. After a while of staying in this peaceful state, she was forced to answer a call, and the loss of her presence left me laying here, alone. I stared at the ceiling for several minutes, reminiscing over the previous events.
Finally, I gathered up enough strength to get out of bed, and made my way over to the bathroom. Turning on the hot shower water, I quickly hopped in, allowing myself to freshen up.
By the end of it all, I certainly felt much more relaxed. I threw on a quick outfit before walking inside the kitchen. I smiled at the sight of her cooking, I quietly sneaked up behind her, engulfing her in a hug, resting my chin on her shoulders. "It looks amazing." I praised her amazing cooking skills.
She hums, getting lost in the comfort of our hug. I start placing soft kisses on her neck, resulting in a few giggles from her.
We both ate together, conversing about the most random things. I swear, she never runs out of things to talk about. But, I'm not complaining, it's one of her great qualities. And occasionally, she'd tease me about the way I blushed whenever she'd compliment me, which only made me laugh.
The loud sound of my phone ringing pulled us both out of our own world. Picking it up, it was Scarlett.
"Hey Scar!" I happily greet her.
"Hey Y/n, I'm so sorry to have to ask you this, but would you be willing to babysit Rose for today? I've tried finding multiple babysitters but no one has been able to."
A large grin appears on my face, "I would love to." I began, "It's been way too long since I've spent quality time with my niece."
I hear Scarlett sigh of relief, "Thank you so much, Y/n. Could you meet me at my house?"
"Okay, see you then."
"Is everything alright?" I hear Chloe ask.
"I'm so sorry, Scarlett asked me to babysit and I-"
She cuts me off by cupping a side of my face, "It's okay, but I'm going to miss you. We're still on for our lunch date?
I softly chuckle, "For sure."
I walked to my car with a big smile on my face. Due to the happiness I've been feeling, I finally began to drive again. My mind instantly drifted off to Chloe, causing a fluttery feeling in my stomach.
