Chapter 29: Festival of the Eight Kings

Matapos ang dalawang linggo na preparasyon ay sumapit na ang festival. The opening of the banquet were attended by a lot of commoners.

Binuksan ang palace grounds kaya marami ang dumalo. The opening was dedicated solely for the commoners so nobles weren't able to attend except for the Emperor who showed his face to the public to officiate the opening.

Kinabukasan matapos ang opening ay ang Hunting Events naman. Kaya maaga pa lamang ay naghanda na ang mga Claymour.

Lavinia chose to not wear a dress. She wore a white tail coat suit. Under the suit is a royal blue, button-down shirt with a cravat and diamond brooch. May kasama itong kulay puting cape na halos umabot sa sahig.

It was partnered with white, fitted pants and a black, high boots that's reaching her upper thigh. Her hair was tied up into a high ponytail with a few wavy, lose strands on her face.

Dahil likas na maputi si Lavinia, ang mapupula niyang mga labi ay mas mahahalata. She wore a light make up, but her beauty screams natural.

The moment she showed up in their living room, everyone cannot take their eyes off from her. Siya na lamang ang hinihintay kaya mas nakatawag siya ng pansin sa lahat.

"You... You didn't wear a dress, Vinia?" ani Seth, mangha sa itsura ng kapatid.

"It's uncomfortable. The event is in the mountain, this is what I prefer to wear today," sagot naman ni Lavinia.

"Lavinia, that's so unladylike. Babae ka at dalaga pa. You should've wore a dress like our Narine here," Maurielle bragged.

Tumaas ang kilay ni Lavinia at tinignan si Narine. Kumunot ang ang kaniyang noo nang makita ang kulay green nitong balloon dress na puno ng ruffles at ribbons. Pati ang suot nitong bonnet hat ay napupuno ng flower designs.

"And what? Look like a freaking gift wrap?" sarkastikong sabat ni Lavinia.

"W-What...?" gulat na tanong ni Maurielle.

Natawa si Lavinia, "Mabuti at nakikita mo pa ang sarili mo sa suot mong 'yan, Narine? Nagmukha kang kalahating tao, kalahating dress," iling ni Lavinia at nauna nang maglakad.

"What did you just say?!" singhal ni Narine.

"Whatever. Never in hell will I wear something like that," sagot ni Lavinia habang naglalakad palabas.

Sisinghal pang muli sana si Narine nang tumayo na si Kallisto at naglakad na rin paalis.

"Enough. Let's go. We're already an hour late."

Padabog na sumunod si Narine kasama si Maurielle. Apat na carriage ang kinailangan nila. Maurielle and Narine wanted to be alone with Kallisto in one carriage but Kallisto insisted that the girls should ride the same carriage.

Kaya naman kasabay ni Kallisto sina Seth at Carsen sa iisang carriage. Lavinia also insisted to ride with Devon and Luan. So in the end, Narine and Maurille were together in their own carriage. Sa pang-apat na carriage ay ang mga maidservants ng dalawa.

The ride to the Scarlet Hills was smooth. Hindi na masyadong marami ang nakapila roon dahil isa ang mga Claymour sa nahuling dumating. Ngunit nakahilera pa rin ang paalis nang mga carriage matapos ihatid ang mga sakay nito.
