Chapter 49: Visitors from Ivelhan

Sa mga sumunod na araw at linggo ay naging abala si Lavinia para sa recruitment ng White Serpent Knights. Ganoon din sa madalas na meeting nila ni Ghastan. However, after the incident in the festival, Lavinia wasn't able to see Valse.

Tulad ngayon kung saan tanging si Ghastan lamang ang dumalo sa meeting nila ni Lavinia sa isang private restaurant.

"Valse is busy with some affairs in his business. Nagkaroon ng insidente sa isa sa mga factory niya kaya palagi siyang wala sa capital at gabi o kinabukasan na nakauuwi," ani Ghastan nang mapansin ang mga mata ni Lavinia na nakatingin sa walang taong upuan sa tabi ni Valse.

"Huh? Ah... yes, sure. There's no problem with that," Lavinia snapped back in reality.

Binalingan ni Ghastan si Lavinia gamit ang mapanuring mga tingin. He contemplated for a moment before sighing.

"Valse... he's a jerk. A crazy psychopath if you were to ask me. He's always been the type to not care about what others think or would view him as."

Natigilan si Lavinia sa pagbabasa ng mga dokumento sa kaniyang harapan at napatingin kay Ghastan.

"However, after his kidnapping incident years ago, he came back rather unusual. Wala siyang interes sa pagiging tanging tagapagmana ng mga Volstein. He... had a rough childhood. It was traumatizing for a young Gervalse na isipin ko man lang ay halos kilabutan ako. Hindi ko alam noon kung paano niya nalagpasan ang lahat. But I think I understand now."

Inangat ni Ghastan ang tingin kay Lavinia. There's no hint of jest in his eyes like the usual goofy Ghastan.

"You were his salvation, L. Noon pa man ay bukambibig niya na si 'Ria'. Halos mabingi kami ni Dylan sa pakikinig ng araw-araw niyang pagbanggit ng lahat tungkol sa'yo. I remember him telling me that he could only become someone worthy of 'Ria' if he were to succeed his father as soon as possible. He did... but he had to pay the prize for it."

Bumaba ang tingin ni Lavinia sa mga dokumento na nasa lamesa. Hindi alam kung paano magsasalita sa inusal ni Ghastan.

"Almost six years ago, haven't you heard of the tragedy in the Volstein Estate?"

Agad na inangat muli ni Lavinia ang tingin kay Ghastan. Ngayon ay puno ng tanong ang mga mata.

"That night... Valse's father was murdered and three more people, the knights and his father's Commander was murdered as well. Only Valse was the one who survived. Aren't you curious what really happened that night? Matagal mang ibinaon ng mga tao iyon sa kanilang mga usapan, ngunit iisa ang nasa isip nila sa insidenteng iyon... Valse was the one who murdered them to usurp the position."
