*Shayna's P.O.V

Its been a few weeks since my mom died in that fire. The funeral was a beautiful thing. Almost everyone there talked about my mom. My mom knew a lot of people and made friends with all of them. I think I took up the most time talking though. I had a lot to say about my mom. She was such a wonderful person, and she inspired me so much.

Today is the last day of school, and its also my last day in Alabama. My flight is two hours after school gets out. Jaylynn's mom has unbelievably nice and welcoming the few weeks I stayed with her. I have no idea where I would be if she hadn't let me stay with her.

Even though I decided to live with my grandma now, I wasn't sure if I would like it. I love my grandma of course, but it would be so different. I don't even know anyone there, so being there would make one boring summer. There is one good thing about it though. My grandma has a mansion right on the beach.

I was now in my last class of the day, and luckily for me all my friends were in that class. "Shayna." Jaylynn said hugging me. "My mom texted me a few minutes ago and said that a representative from your mom's insurance company came by to drop off a check for you since that big fire happened at your house."

"Good. I was really starting to worry that wouldn't give it to me. Once they clear the land where my house was, I'm gonna put the empty lot up for sale."

"That's a good idea." Jaylynn said. "What is?" Jennifer asked. "Shayna said that when they clear the lot where her house is, she's gonna put the empty lot up for sale."

"That is a good idea." Jennifer replied. "Did your mom have any inheritance for you?" Jaylynn asked. "I'm not entirely sure. I have to go talk to my mom's lawyer after school before I get on my flight." I was kind of excited to be getting all this money because I lost a lot in the fire. Like all my clothes. Jaylynn's mom was nice enough to buy me a few outfits, but that's not gonna be enough when I move to Florida.

Jaylynn's mom picked me and Jaylynn from school today because she had to drive me to my mom's lawyer's office and after that straight to the airport. "Here's the check that was dropped off for you earlier." I opened the envelope and the check inside was for five thousand dollars. Before anyone else could see the amount I folded it up and stuck it in my backpack. "I drove by your old house earlier, and they had bulldozers there. "Good. I'm gonna sell the empty lot when they clear it."

"That's a good idea because I would imagine you wouldn't spend all that money on building a new house there." Jaylynn's mom said. It was silent the rest of the time to the lawyer's office. "Alright Shayna. We'll be out here waiting for you."

"Okay. This shouldn't take long at all." I walked into the office and I saw the receptionist on the phone. She hung up the phone. "Hello may I help you?"

"Hi I have an appointment with Mr. Pritelli."

"May I have your name?"

"Shayna Donnelly."

"Okay. He'll be out in a moment."

"Thank you." I sat down in the blue chair across from the receptionist. My mind wandered as I sat there. I was really hoping good things will come my way when I get to Florida. "Shayna." Mr. Pritelli said. I stood up and shook his hand. "I'm sorry for your loss." Mr. Pritelli said. "Thank you." I followed him to his office. I walked into his office first and he closed the door behind him. "Okay so lets take a look at your mom's will." he sat down. "I don't know if she told you anything about what was on the will, but she left everything to you. We took a look at her bank accounts that she left to you and it added up to 1.5 million dollars." I put my hands over my mouth. "I had no idea that she had so much money."

"Well she had a college fund that her mom saved up for her, and since she never went to college, she had the money saved up and it gained interest."

"Wow. I'm moving to Florida with my grandmother. Is there any way I could take the money down with me?" I asked. "Of course. You can transfer the money to a national bank, actually I can take care of that. When do you plan on leaving?"

"In about an hour and a half."

"Wow okay. Yeah I can do that today in fact so by the time you get to Florida it'll be there. I'll call you with the information for your account."

"Thank you so much."

"Well you better get going. You wouldn't want to miss your flight. Have a safe flight and I'll talk to you very soon."

"Thank you." I said shaking his hand once again and walked out of his office. I got in Jaylynn's mom's car silently. Jaylynn looked at me. "Well? What happened?" Jaylynn asked. "So apparently my mom had 1.5 million dollars saved up."

"Oh my goodness. I had no idea that your mom had so much money."

"Same."

"Well off to the airport we go." Jaylynn's mom said as we pulled out of the parking lot. I sighed. "You alright?" Jaylynn whispered to me. I nodded with my fake smile. "Are you sure you want to go? My mom said you can still stay if you really want to."

"I want to go plus since my grandfather died about eight months ago, my grandmother is really lonely."

"If you ever want to come back you know my doors are always open." Jaylynn's mom said while looking at me from the mirror. "Thank you, but I'm gonna go." It was silent the whole drive to the airport. I didn't want to talk much anyways. I had way too much on my mind. Jaylynn would look over and smile every once in a while. I could see the pain in her eyes. We've been friends for almost eleven years, so I could see the reason why she would be sad to see me go.

We made it to the airport with an hour until my flight. Jaylynn and Jaylynn's mom walked me in there and sat with me until my flight was called. Jaylynn started crying. "Oh Jaylynn don't cry. I'm pretty sure I'll come back and visit sometime really soon." I said hugging her. I hugged Jaylynn's mom. "Thank you for letting me stay at your house."

"It was no problem at all. Come back anytime you want to." I grabbed my back pack and my suitcase. I showed the person my ticket and walked towards my plane. Seeing Jaylynn cry made me feel bad about leaving, but I had to go be with my grandma. She needs me and I need her as well.
