It has been three weeks since I saw Chase, I honestly thought things would be better because of the night that we had and the confessions we made to each other. Something told me to be positive. I was mated to an Alpha, a title that came with a lot of responsibilities so I decided to do something that I'd never thought of doing. Visit him at his office. I made lunch for him, his favourite, potatoes and steak. I made sure to look pretty.

"Where are you going Erinna?", Renee asked when I was walking out. "Am going to see Chase, and deliver his lunch", I said with a smile which she returned. "That's cute. Pass by the orphanage after so that we return home together", she said and I nod in agreement. I took her car and drove to the pack house.

The pack house was very busy like they were preparing the place for something. I spotted Chase's Beta and approached him, hoping that he could help me since I'd never been to the pack house. "Hi Arthur!", I greeted him, his eyes went wide and a smile decorated his face. "Hey, Erinna! How are you? What are you doing here?", He asked sounding nervous. "I came to see Chase, can you take me to him?", I asked and watched his nervousness increase.

"Does he know that you're coming?", he asked while looking everywhere but at me. "No, I just brought him lunch, it's a surprise, I won't take long", I said realising that it was probably wrong of me to assume he would be willing to intervene with his Alpha's schedule for me. "You could just tell me where his office is and no one will have to know. I just haven't seen him in a while that's all", I pleaded and I saw guilt in his eyes making me know that I got this in the bag.

"It's ok, I will take you to him. Follow me", he said making me smile and follow him eagerly. We went up the stairs it was a three-story house and his office was on the very top floor. "There is his office", he said pointing at the door that was at the end of the hallway. "Thank you, Arthur, I owe you one", I said pulling him for a hug and then walking to Chase's office without waiting for his answer.

"Surprise!", I said while opening the door without knocking only to find Velma straddling him, her lips on his neck with his hands on her waist. The shock on his face made my heart break into pieces. "Oh hi Erinna!", Velma said cheerfully as she got out of his lap like it was a normal thing to do. "You brought lunch? Amazing! How did you know? Oh, goddess, it's steak and potatoes how awesome is this", she said after taking the basket from my hands and opening it. Tears started falling from my eyes. I swallowed hard while walking backward. My eyes not looking anywhere but at Chase's.

I have been crying for hours, Renee tried asking me what was wrong but I couldn't say anything, how could I? "Erinna? What is wrong? Mother said you have been crying for hours, talk to us... do you want us to call Chase?", Cleo asked starting a mind link. "No! Please don't, not Chase... please", that was all I could say. She looked shocked but didn't say a thing as she walked out of my room. They left me alone for a few hours, and when night came, Cleo walked into my room with painkillers and a glass of water.

"I don't know what Chase did but I don't like seeing you like this Erinna, I wish you could talk to me", she said but I pretended to be asleep. She put the meds on the bedside table and left.

I jolted awake, my hand falling on my abdomen. The pain was excruciating, I screamed right when the door burst open. "What's wrong? Goddess, you're burning up. Mum we need to take her to the hospital", Cleo said while pulling me up, carrying me like I weighed nothing. "The keys Mum!", she said rushing to her car. Renee hurried and switched on the car. All I could do was hold on to the place that brought me so much pain.

"Erinna, show me where it hurts", Cleo instructed me as she placed me on the hospital bed. Just when I was about to tell her the pain struck again making me sit up crunching my hands below my belly hoping that it would make the pain go away but all I could do was scream. "Make it go away... please", I said between my sobbing when no one replied I looked up and found Cleo fuming while Renee was in tears with one hand covering her mouth and the other on her stomach.

"Am so sorry Erinna... I can't do this", Renee kept repeating the same words while walking backwards until she was out of the room. I turned to Cleo, my eyes begging for an explanation. "Cleo, what is happening? Am I dying?", I asked her and instead of answering she pulled me in a hug. "You're not dying, I promise you. I will fix this... I promise you", she said with determination and I found myself believing her without saying a word.

"Huh! I honestly thought you'd be different... you know what? I can't even look at you right now. What do you want?", I heard Cleo ask.

I was still at the hospital, my back facing them. I decided to pretend I was still sleeping to see how the conversation will end. "Cleo, I don't want to fight with you", Chase said his voice breaking. "Oh really? Did you think about that when you were busy sleeping with someone else while your wolf already met his mate?", she asked with anger dominating her voice. "What do you mean?", Chase asked sounding lost. She made an evil chuckle.

"What kind of Alpha are you? You have no clue do you?", she asked with shock. There was silence then a release of breath. "Chase when our wolves meet and connect with their mates they build a protective barrier that allows the other mate to feel what the other feel including betrayal", she explained making me brace myself because I had a feeling I knew where this was going.
