"You've all asked what you can do to help. There are five day's worth of projects on here. We are going to do them in one. We can break the rules and cut through the red tape. I expect my mom to be properly celebrated and buried by the end of the day." Caroline demands, giving all of us pointed look and oddly she shoots us a smile.I know that inside she's hurting a lot, but for now she's distracting herself. Perhaps, she knows what comes after is worse than what's happened.
"Sure, Care. Whatever you need." Matt tells her, receiving a nod from both Tyler and Stefan.
"Elena, you're coming with me." Caroline states, looking down at her notepad.
"Where are we going?" Elena questions.
"Casket shopping. Let's move!" She affirms before twirling her fingers around, signalling for us to start our tasks. "Emma, I have an important task for you. You're going to get a call soon or you've been ignoring it, answer it. Do what he says. Just... don't be late!" She demands and I open my mouth to question her.
Before Caroline can further explain herself, my phone starts buzzing on the coffee table and she gives me a knowing look. I sigh, picking up the phone and walking out of the living room, frowning when I see the call is from Ric.
"Your least favourite Gilbert, how may I help?" I ask as soon as I pick up the phone.
"I need your help." Ric says with a worried tone.
"Are you sure you need me of all people?" I clarify, slightly frowning as I wonder if Caroline needed something from Ric and I'm supposed to help him get it for her.
"Jo has been throwing up and I know you are all trying to help Caroline but... I need help. I called Caroline and she assigned you to help me." He sighs, making me nod even though he can't see me and I'm confused why she didn't get Elena to do it since she's better with people.
"No offence but she needs me more than Jo right now." I state, running a hand through my hair. "Plus I'm not a doctor. Wrong doppelgänger." I add, rolling my eyes as I watch some of them leave the Salvatore house to carry on their tasks.
"Look, Jo asked for you too. I don't know why...." He trails off as I hear Jo faintly throwing up on the background. "Please. Look, it's what Caroline wanted as well. I didn't beg. I just asked for help, I didn't even mention Jo wanted to see you."
"Fine. I'll be there in ten minutes."
############
I knock on the front door three times but I still twist the knob when I see that the door is not even locked up. I walk inside the apartment to see Ric rushing for the door but when he sees I'm already inside, he gives me a short smile.
"Where is she?" I ask but when I hear the sound of someone throwing up, I head towards it to see that she's still in the bathroom. "Oh, gross." I mumble when I see that she's throwing up a lot more than I think she should be.
"Uh, you sure you don't want to hold her hair back or something?" Ric mentions over to her but he does not walk in.
I roll my eyes and walk closer to her, holding her hair back and rubbing her back as she starts to throw up again. "Hey, Jo. Maybe you should go to the doctors, you know.... Instead of getting Ric to call me here for moral support, plus, I suck at that." I offer, pointing over at him.
Jo groans as she wipes her mouth with a towel as the bell rings and Ric walks over to it. "I need a favour from you. I need you to find Kai." She whispers for Ric not to hear her.
I look at her as I hear a very familiar voice. "No need. He's here." I tell her as I walk into the hallway, my eyes meeting with his eyes and he seems shocked to seem here as I remain emotionless.
