Sociopath's feelings

It's been about a month since the merge happened and a lot has happened.

I am mainly to blame for leaving Bonnie behind in the prison world, so, I stayed up all night making her favourite cupcakes because today is her birthday. It took me all night since I'm not a really good cook when it comes to deserts and I almost burned my house down a few times.

Now they look splendid and edible.

"Good to see the house is still intact. I have to thank you, I was worried that you were letting me go to sleep to burn the house down with me still inside." He pipes in, entering the kitchen with messy hair and a slight stubble.

I see time is finally catching up with him.

I lick some of the excess frosting off my fingers, removing the apron off and sitting in the kitchen chair, admiring my cupcakes. "I think you should thank me for letting you stay here in the first place after what you did to Liz." I conclude, not once looking up at him.

"Yummy cupcakes." Kai licks his lips, trying to make a move toward the cupcakes but I stop him.

"Don't even think about it. It's for Bonnie!" I give him a pointed look, standing up from my place and getting the cupcakes ready to go to the Salvatore house. "So are you... okay?" I ask him sincerely.

You might be asking me why I let him stay at my house for the last month. Perhaps, you're even asking why I'm asking him how he's feeling. Well, a few days after the merge I was about to walk inside my house when he appeared out of nowhere with tears running down his face.

He cried for a good hour on my shoulder, so I decided to let him stay to help him out with his emotions. It was the deal after all to help him he better. Plus, he's a little good now and as soon as we get Bonnie back he'll go back to Portland.

"Well, I have control over the pool of water that comes out of my eyes." He pauses for a few moments, moving to stand inches away from me. "I also googled it because even with your help I have never felt this way," he coughs awkwardly. "and did you know that google has all the answers you need? Including, how to make cupcakes without burning the house down." He teases, making me shoot him a playful glare.

"So what did google tell you to do, Malachai?" I question him, turning my attention from the cupcakes to him.

"To write down how I felt and then burn it. You see... it made more water to run down my eyes..." he leans down to my hear, looking at his surrounding before looking back at me. "Don't tell anyone but I still think I might be an alien." I push him away, laughing at his comment which makes him give me a 'what? I'm serious.' look.

"You're not an alien. You are human and you have emotions. You felt bad for what you did to Luke. It's completely normal for you to cry about it for the past few weeks." I explain to him but he only crosses his arms, tilting his head to the side.

"I don't like feeling sad... or any other emotions." He mutters under his breath and he looks like he's talking to himself so I don't reply. "I mean, am I going to feel like this forever? Why do feelings exist?"

"You're not the only one questioning that." I mumble, grabbing the cupcakes and making my way out of the kitchen but Kai gently grabs my arm and I turn to face him again. "I need to go the Salvatore house."

"I know out but... I figured out a way to get Bonnie out!" He burst out, making me furrow my eyebrows at him. "I mean... I'm not completely sure how but I have an idea, Em. Let me come with you."

I sigh, looking him in the eyes. "They're going to hate me for this."
