S1 Ep14: Hell-O

Mr Shue drew a stickman with a speech bubble on the board.

"Hello." He said. "What do you say when you answer the phone" He asked them.

Mercedes and Artie replied with normal greetings.

"No, she's dead, this is her son." Kurt told Mr Shuester.

"Okay. Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone, liked to say 'ahoy, ahoy' when he answered the phone. It was Edison that decided that hello, was a more appropriate greeting."

Gabriela sat next to Santana very confused by what Mr Shue was trying to say.

"What is he going on about?" she asked, turning to face Santana.

"I have no idea. He says random stuff all the time." She replied

"Yeah. I guess so." Gabriela giggled, in turn making Santana giggle as well.

"Look, im really proud of what you did at sectionals. But as most of you have realised, it hasn't made a bit of difference in your day-to-day at school." Mr Shue rambled on.

"I have a slushy stained training bra to prove it." Rachel shouted angrily.

"Fact is, we're gonna have to be better, even more spectacular at regionals. Its time for reinvention, some new New Directions. We need a new..." He turned to point at the board "... hello. Here's your assignment for the week. Come up with a fresh number, but it has to have 'hello' in the title"

Gabriela and Santana sat in Sue's office.

"You two should be wetting yourselves with shame." She told them.

"Glee club won sectionals and you did nothing to stop it. If you were samurai and my letter opener were sharp enough, I would ask you both right now to commit seppuku. In Japanese, this means ritual belly slitting." She said disappointed.

"We were seduced by the glitz and glamour of showbiz." Gabriela told the cheerleading coach.

"Let me drop some knowledge on you. Ever since Quinn Fabray got knocked up, I've been in the market for a new head cheerleader."

Santana and Gabriela glanced at each other from the corner of their eyes. They both wanted to be head cheerleader.

"If you want the job, and back in my good graces. you're gonna have to turn around and listen up." Sue continued. "You're familiar with a little Glee clubber named Rachel Berry." They both nodded.

"Rachel's the kinda of girl who wants things too badly. And what she really wants, is one Finn Hudson. I want you to go after him. She'll go crazy. She won't be able to stand you dating him. Humiliated, ashamed, she'll have no choice but to leave the group. And without her, Shuester won't make it to regionals." She ended off by tossing them the weights she was exercising with and shoo-ing them from her office.

When they were out of her office Santana asked Gabby if she was sure about doing this.

"Well, we have no other choice. Also head cheerleader will be good for my popularity and college applications" She said walking to Glee Club.

Gabriela and Santana shared smirks with each other as Finn finished his number.

"And that fellow Glee clubbers is how you say 'Hello'." Rachel said before going to Mr Shue.

Gabby and Santana nodded at each other before interlocking pinkies and approaching Finn Hudson.
