"Your father tells me your grade are finally back up, Xavier. How does that feel?" Sister Ida asked as he played with his fingers. Quickly, he nodded, thinking about how proud he was of himself for bringing back up his grades after hitting a low.
"Good. It also feels good to be back in school. I didn't think I wanted to return to the University after what happened with Oriana and the Dean. My dad made sure he was fired, and online wasn't doing me well."
"And the other students, how are they treating you?"
"Good for the most. I still have a few people accusing me of Oriana and Jasira's death, but I don't let it bother me. Shanice and my sister remind me neither of them was my fault, and they are right. Jasira died because she picked the wrong side, and Oriana... Oriana's greed killed her." He shrugged as Sister Ida smiled, nodding her head.
"Good... good. Tell me about you and Shanice."
"Shanice and I are good. I mean, she understands me. She knows when I'm feeling down, need to talk or be left alone. It's the same with her... sometimes I feel we share the same connection that Xylia and I have." He paused, and Sister Ida sighed. There was more to it, but he felt it was because she was there for him and didn't feel the same.
"There is either a but or you're conflicted about something. Which is it? And if it's about your twin. Know this, Xavier. Both of you must learn you are growing up and will drift apart slightly. The bond you have, no one can break that. Unless you let them."
"I understand that, and Xylia has always been in my corner. Lately, she had been the one drifting away. Xy didn't like my decision, but she supported it as she always did. Like I don't like her decision at the moment, but I support it because I believe my sister knows what she is doing. I hate lying for her." He spoke as the Nun nodded, writing something down before looking back at him.
"Don't worry; I'm not going to question it. Or tell your father... Would you say that you love Shanice?"
"I... I thought this session was about me and how I was coping with my mental breakdown. Not about if I loved the girl, I'm set to marry."
"That is true, Xavier, but to have a sound mind about everything that happened. You have to be sure of yourself, including your love life. I know you are young, but you have been spending a lot of time with your fiancee, and she is part of the reason you are at the point you're at today. I know what lead you to this point, and we don't need anything resetting your back to your breaking point. You said yourself that Shanice has been a big part of your recovery, and it's been about eight months now. I'm only asking a simple question, Xavier. Do you love her or think you can grow to love her?" She questioned as Xavier tapped his foot, still playing with his fingers as he slowly nodded his head.
"I don't want to tell her too soon...."
"What are you scared of?"
"I'm scared she would think I'm crazy. That she would run... I don't know. Maybe I'm not worthy for someone to love me other than my family." Sister Ida sighed, writing something else on her paper as she shook her head before looking up. On the other hand, Xavier slowly looked away until he felt a hand touch his.
"I'm going to step away from the therapist's mood for a second. Xavier, I have known you since a baby, and the one thing I know about you is you are full of love. You care for others even when they shouldn't and always think on the bright side of things. Everyone is meant to be loved, and yeah, you're young, but young people fall in love too. Look at your parents; their love started in the preteens. Like everyone else, they hit a rough patch and overcame it. Listen to what your heart is telling you, not your mind, and I will see you again Wednesday. Same time... don't be late." She smiled, making Xavier laugh because the woman knew she was the devil working in the church, but she always had great advice.
