: I made a mistake. I need you to meet me at the Cathedral... come alone.
Obasi stared at the text in disbelief. After being missing for over five and a half months, Ndidi must have been completely insane to think that he would meet her alone. What did she think as she listened to Madison—or was it Emmanuel since he felt the detachment long before the mistress, as Madison called her, arrived? His hope that she loved him kept him around. He had completely deceived himself.
The circumstance had to end, and he had vowed to himself, his brothers, and Xerxes that the next time he saw her, he would end her life. Obasi would not renege on his promise. As much as he wanted Madison and whoever else dead, he also wanted Ndidi dead. Madison was engaged in a fight for which she had no explanation, and all of her efforts had been fruitless. That's what prompted Obasi's initial suspicions. Emmanuel was blinded by hate because he was looked over as being the child of his grandfathers.
Emmanuel believed that adopted children deserved the best in life as if they weren't already receiving it by being part of a loving family. He felt snubbed when his father announced he was passing on the family mafia to his biological daughter. The fact that she was a woman in love with a white man made things no better. All of this started with Emmanuel's hatred, which stemmed from his mother's decisions.
"Can I help you?"
"Reese... where is my nephew?" Obasi asked as the man stood there looking at him like he had lost his mind. Yes, he was one of the Dons, but at the moment, he preferred to speak with his nephew beside him or the others. All of them asked too many fucking questions and got mad when Obasi got smart with the assholes.
"Xerxes when home to check on his youngest son. Xeon has the FLU, and one of the other children called, saying something about the boy throwing up. It's not like I can't help you."
"I didn't say that, but I rather speak with my nephew." He turned about to leave the room as Reese touched his shoulder, causing Obasi to stop and turn back. The man glared at him for a moment, then nodded his head over to the side to one of the seats. Obasi thought about walking away but chose to take a seat.
"I will admit I didn't trust your ass at first, but I can see that you're an honest person."
"Is that the leprechaun in you talking...."
"YOU MUTHA... I'm not about to play the jackass game with you, Obasi." Reese spoke as Obasi laughed. "What were you looking for Xerxes for? Like I say, I can help." Obasi nodded, handing his phone over to Reese. The man stared at it for a moment before looking back at him.
"You're not going."
"You mean I'm not going alone. I know this, but I promised myself that I would be the one that killed her. I brought her here and put all of you in danger, and I will take care of it. You, my nephew, and the others may be Don, but I'm not a child. I only came to you because I need backup, not a babysitter or a guard dog."
Reese stood there with an unreadable look. One of those I want to murder your ass looks while Obasi glared back. "You're an asshole. You know that. Of course, you do because you, Luca, and Chance share the same blood. Let me talk to X before you send her a text back."
