The sound of her clock ticking began to irritate her soul. Launching herself out of bed and towards the clock, she ripped it off the wall and stomped through to the kitchen. She slammed the mind numbing machine on the counter top and huffed on back to bed.

Eleanor had been trying to sleep for hours. But an early onset of nerves began to creep slowly at first, until the dam walls broke and they flooded her like a tsunami.

She must have rehearsed the damn poem a million times in her head, with at least 99% of them going horrendously wrong- the ending tarnished with some unlikely event like a fainting episode, a nosebleed, ending up suddenly naked or freezing on the spot to name a few. But the worst of all, was the feeling of invisibleness, the outcome where no one listened and no one cared.

Pressing her lock screen button for the hundredth time, the time 2:30 illuminated her screen.

Fumbling with the screen, her fingertip hovered over: neighbor. A small smile poked at her lips as she pressed edit, erasing the neighbor and replacing it with Lu.

Tapping the camera icon, the rings echoed around her room until they stopped and were replaced with the shape of her favorite blonde.

"Hi baby, you okay?" Luke asked, angling his camera to fix his floppy hair. Luke hadn't been sleeping yet either. In fact, he had been rather productive. His guitar minutes prior to the call, had been in his grasp, a new song slowly falling into place.

"Yeh...well no" she sighed, "I can't sleep" she pouted.

"You're nervous about tomorrow, aren't you?" Luke questioned, his eyes scanning her adorable, little face on the screen of his phone.

"Yeh..." Eleanor whimpered, "It's going to go horribly wrong I can just feel it in my bones".

"Nerves are understable El and sometimes they can be useful," Luke added, trying to put a positive spin on it. "We can practice tomorrow if you want? But right now you need rest" he smiled, leaning his phone up against the pillow and grabbing his guitar.

"Turn off the light and get comfortable sweetheart," Eleanor smiled at his gesture.

"Okay, thank you Lu" she sighed, propping her phone up on the bedside table. Her arms scooped up the pillow and her body snuggled into it.

Luke strummed his guitar softly plucking the strings to create a melodic wave of sound.

Cause I just need another hit
You're the thing that I can't quit
