It was a busy Friday in store, Eleanor, Luke and Jack were on shift. That's how it tended to be with the odd university student picking up a four hour shift or volunteering.
Jack was dressed in the store's brand - wearing the t-shirt was thankfully optional. Eleanor was wearing her baby pink sweater, the sleeves neatly rested on her wrists. It was soft and rounded at the neck and delicately tucked into her grey and white checked skirt that had faint lines of pink running up it. Her skirt clung to her legs, reaching her mid thigh which only accentuated her tanned legs more. It was tied around her waist with a black belt, her padlock sat proudly on her chest and she wore it all with her favorite set of gold rings and earrings, along with her black doc martens.
Jack had certainly noticed her, complimenting the woman the second she walked through the door.
"Hey Eleanor, how are you? And might I just add you look stunning", the comment provoking a scoff from Luke hidden away in the corner.
With blushed cheeks, she turned her face away from Jack trying to reject the compliment. Luke looked on with disgust. Not at the compliment, but at the fact Jack was the one giving it.
As Luke peered around from the shelving unit, he couldn't blame his boss. Eleanor looked unreal. His eyes glided up and down her well dressed body, appreciating every last detail like the four gold rings that lay beautifully on her fingers, the shade of pink- not too bright or too pale, the perfect mix to compliment her complexion and her long, pink nails, he missed the familiar baby blue nails he was so accustomed to seeing, but Luke could definitely see him warming up to the pink.
"Aw, thank you Jack, I'm good! How are you? How's the store doing today?" Eleanor asked, scanning the room quickly, not finding what she was looking for.
"It's not doing too bad today, a steady flow of people. I'm expecting it to peak soon though." He chuckled tidying up the till counter.
Simultaneously, they leant against the counter, facing into the store. Jack turned to face his employee.
"I feel like it's been so busy the past few weeks I haven't managed to get to know you yet!"
"I suppose we're free now, ask away" she chirped, eyes still occasionally searching the room.
Jack and Eleanor indulged in small talk talking about London, university, and hobbies, but when it came around to asking about family, Eleanor seized. Uncomfortable feelings washed over her body, a sickly feeling turning in her stomach, sweat tickling her palms, breathing altered.
"erm they're fine with me moving I suppose, I don't miss them much," she muttered, fidgeting with her hair, flattening the ends of her sweater and spinning a ring around her finger.
