With a protective arm secured around her waist, Luke supported Eleanor to her apartment.
In the car she started to become light headed again, probably needing to eat, drink water and sleep it off. She didn't even need to ask for help, Luke stepped in automatically.
Not wanting to admit it to himself, but he didn't want to reach her apartment, he wanted to stay this close to her all night, so close he could feel her precious, love-filled heart beating; so close he could see the freckles dotted across her sun-kissed, glowing skin; so close he could smell her intoxicating scent remnant of cookies baked on a sun-filled autumn afternoon.
Much to his misery, Chase must have heard them walking down the corridor as he opened the door to see his pale, sickly looking best friend.
"You alright Ellie?" Concern spreading throughout his face, his brows creased as his widened eyes scanned her body.
"Yes but this happened" she giggled, lifting her hand exposing the small plaster wrapped around her index finger, her whole hand still trembling from low blood sugar mixed with the tension of being so close to Luke. Both boys noticed her shakes, an unsettling feeling nauseating them. They both shared the mutual hatred of seeing her in any type of pain or discomfort.
"I'm guessing you fainted?" He chuckled looking at the blonde boy behind her. Chase analyzed the grip he had on her waist, and the way his arm had slipped underneath her cardigan, his fingers grazed her bare skin, red fingertips rubbing comforting lines into her side.
Eleanor comfortably lent into him, her head almost resting fully on his shoulder- maybe it was because she felt unstable, but knowing Eleanor, allowing this kind of contact was unusual.
"Yep" she admitted, rolling her eyes. "I think I just need to eat and I'll be fine."
"I've got food cooking now... Do you want to join us..." Chase paused and frowned, not knowing the blonde boy's name, wanting to make an effort for Eleanor's sake even if he wasn't keen on the Australian. He just screamed trouble Chase thought.
"Luke" Eleanor answered before turning to face him.
"Please join us!" She smiled, desperate to indulge in small talk and hopefully get to know him more.
The way she felt around him was unmatched. But trivially she knew nothing about him- does he have siblings, why has he moved from Australia, hobbies, likes and dislikes, past love interests and why does he look so tired all of the time. She longed to know more about this mysterious blonde in fact she longed to know everything.
Eleanor could feel every muscle in his body clench at her exclamation. His teeth gritted. His body frozen, glued in the same spot like a deer in headlights. She could feel the rise and fall of his chest deepen as his eyes avoided hers.
