Take the leap.

We spend forever contemplating and overthinking about what could be.

Will it hurt?

Am I making the right decision?

What if?

No amount of overthinking can ever guarantee how the future is going to go.

It's unpredictable like that.

However, there is one thing that can be guaranteed. And that is the regret of not giving something your all, not giving something a shot and not taking that leap.

After months of standing on the edge, Luke had done it, he had finally taken the leap with no safety harness this time.

He expected to feel the rush of the fall but it was quite the opposite. He felt like he was finally flying. He felt lighter and he finally had a taste of what life could truly be like.

Before her, he was a million broken, jagged pieces.

He was convinced this wasn't in the cards for him, his stars just weren't aligned like that but from the second she had laid her eyes on him, her hands had grasped his soul and refused to let go.

It was twisted though The expectation is to find and search for the one, your soulmate. But it was astronomy in reverse; she had found him.

As he and Eleanor ran down towards the house, hands connected and bodies soaking, they laughed sweetly. Just as they were about to reach the house, Luke stopped abruptly, he pulled Eleanor back and she bumped into him.

Tipping her chin upwards, his other hand bent her back and he leant forward his lips crashed against hers.

Eleanor had only seen this type of move in movies. She never thought it would be her reality. Luke had quite literally swept her off her feet and it was raining and the moon was shining and it was everything she could have possibly imagined when she was younger.

Cupping the back of her head, he deepened the kiss, pulling gently at her lip. His lips were so gently harsh. They were soft but demanding and needy.

His hands settled on the base of her neck as they borh backed up against a tree that decorated the front of the yard. Her back grazed against the sharp bark but she didn't care, she gasped and he took advantage, his tongue finding pure ecstasy.

She couldn't help herself. Her fingers naturally found their way into his hair, tugging and tangling.

"El" he sighed, his hands grabbing at her soft skin, they squeezed every inch of her wanting more.

Opening his eyes, he peered down at the slight of her, soaked, cheeks red, hair curly and stuck to her face. He cupped her face, his hands on either cheek and their eyes connected.

"You, Eleanor Grace are the best thing that has ever happened to me" he whispered as his thumb traced her lips. Eleanor closed her eyes and fell into his warmth. There was nowhere else in the world she'd rather be. She released a deep breath and looked upwards.

The rain had slowed to a fine drizzle and the stars had disappeared underneath the night cloud and it fascinated him, that even when the stars were out of sight, she still looked at the sky with as much love as she did when they were shining brightly.

If only he had connected it, for it was a metaphor for how she looked at him. She didn't care that his stars didn't always twinkle the brightest. She was someone who loved both sides of the moon; the light and the dark.

His shadowed soul had been revived by her. She turned everything to gold with her touch and words.

A smile rose on her face causing him to smile too. "We're soaked again" she chuckled as she attempted to peel off her top that was clung to her skin.

He hummed in agreement, curling her wet curls around his index finger.

"I've got an idea, c'mon" she giggled, sprinting away from him. He shuddered from the sudden lack of her contact but then he was close behind her.

She ran straight for the sea with no hesitation. Eleanor skipped towards the waves, twirling and spinning as she got closer.

Grabbing his hand, she pulled him into the cool water. They waded out deeper and deeper until the water was waist high and still.

Luke wrapped her arms around her and brought her close to him; her head rested backwards onto his chest as his chin rested on the top of her head.

"Will you sing for me?" He asked quietly.

She nodded and began to sing a new song she had been working on.

For years to come, he'd never be able to remember the song or the lyrics that she sung, but his heart would always remember her melody and how it danced poetically with the moon light.

As the moon continued to reflect the sun's light on the beach, Eleanor brought out a towel for each of them. Carefully she draped the towel around his shoulders and pecked his cheek. "Stay there" she whispered before disappearing back inside.

She appeared again, in front of him, the glow from the candles making his eyes blink in a quicker rhythm than usual.

He chuckled, "we've already done them once". He looked at her in bewilderment, his eyes wide with playfulness.

"I know, but I have a feeling we have a few to catch up on" Eleanor smiled, "now, birthday boy, you deserve another wish"

Luke closed his eyes and took a deep breath and in the moments of making the wish he thought about his birthday next year and he hoped that he would still be sharing his cake with the most beautiful woman in existence.

Gently blowing the candles out he reached forward and brought her close for a delicate kiss.

"Here, you take the first bite" she smiled, using a spoon she scooped a bit of the cake and carefully fed it to him.

"I don't even need to ask who made this cake, I know you've made it" he gasped dramatically. "Genuinely the best cake I've ever eaten!" he exclaimed.

She giggled at his enthusiasm, "thanks Lu".

His smile beamed brighter than the moon itself as he spoke softly,

"Do you want to know how much I love you Eleanor Grace?" Luke asked.

She nodded, blush already covering her cheeks.

"Do you see the moon up there?"

"Yes" she smiled.

"I love you to the moon and back and around every single star in the universe"

"That's a long way" she mumbled, overwhelmed with his sudden openness.

"And even then, I'd love you more than that."

"This in here" he thudded at his chest, where his heart sat. "I thought it was useless, broken, unfixable...but then you come along and now it races for you, it needs you and I'm afraid, it now beats for you" he chuckled intertwining their fingers.

Bringing her hand up to his chest, she felt the pulsations of his heart.

"It's yours, forever"
