As it turns out, hiring Pansy was the best decision I ever made. Well after agreeing to go into business with Draco and Blaise.
She was determined to show the world that she could stand on her own two feet and she was bloody good at what she did. The customers loved her, she was always willing to help and took to the cosmetics and fragrance developing like a natural. Plus she had a real knack for sales.
Having Pansy in the business gave me more time to work in the back room. Draco and Blaise had purchased the warehouse they liked, even though I tried to fight to pay something towards it, they refused. It was up and running and now I was tasked with filling it with stock.
We had already had several meetings with the big wigs in St. Mungo's as they told us the types of remedies and potions they would need. According to Draco, I blew them away when I added a few ideas of my own. Self cleaning gauze for wounds, my own version of essence of dittany as well as a few more womanly items like a potion that completely relieved child birth pain and monthly cramps.
I also had an idea for a machine the muggles use for detecting diseases and presenting a treatment course perfectly customized to the patient. That one they nearly lost their shit over and we were told to get working on it right away as it would change the course of Healing history.
I don't think Draco, Blaise or even myself was expecting me to have such a flair for the industry. But I did.
I spent most of my time at the shop's potion lab. I was surprised to find that Draco was also there. Almost everyday. I thought when he offered to help that he would take more of a dictator role but I was pleasantly surprised when he rolled up his sleeves and got stuck in. He helped me make every single potion on my list.
I also had gotten used to 'the gang' as they called themselves constantly being around the house. (I actually loved it!) Laurie and Daphne would visit almost everyday as would Blaise and Theo. Draco I was considering giving a spare key spell to as he was here just as often as Pansy or I.
What was even better is that everyone now considered me part of their group. They didn't just come to see Pansy. They came at times when she was out to see me. I had friends. Friends that didn't expect anything of me other than hanging out with them. Daphne was fascinated with the muggle contraptions around the house. They all were. I arrived home one day to see her turning on and off the stove, watching the flame ignite. It was pretty comical.
They were all amazing people. I was ashamed to admit the I let prejudice get in the way of getting to know them at school. Well that and I was still in the shadows.
Bare Theo, they had no clue I even existed.
We had sort of gotten into a routine. Pansy and I would head into the shop at about 8.30am and get ready to open for the day. Draco would arrive at about 9.30am armed with three coffees and then he and I would spend the day in the stock room. Blaise would arrive at lunch as would Daphne, Laurie and Theo. We usually ate in the stock room.
Today was no different.
"Good morning to you two beautiful ladies," Draco sang as he entered the shop. "Cappucino for Pansy and of course a latte with vanilla for my Ade." He would smile and kiss us both on the cheek.
"Someone is in a good mood today." I smiled.
"Someone must have gotten laid last night." Pansy smirked sipping her coffee.
Draco scrunched up his face. "Shove off Pans. I did not." He looked at me clearly embarrassed.
"Pity, isn't that the best thing about having a significant other?" I asked. Draco and Pansy both choked on their coffee's. "What?" I smiled innocently. "You know I am not actually as innocent as you lot make me out to be."
