With the new Owl orders, it meant that I was busier than ever. So much so I thought about getting someone in to help but to be honest I loved the rush of it all. It kept me busy and meant that quite a lot of the time I worked into the night. While I was busy, I couldn't think of how lonely I was. I didn't have time to be lonely.
It was a Wednesday evening in mid August. During my busier months as kids were getting ready to head back to school. I was doing a stock take of my potions and setting the cauldrons in the back to cook whatever potions I was low on. I was currently up a ladder at one of the top shelves when my front door opened and customers stepped in. I could hear them chatting happily to one another. The voices sounded familiar but I couldn't place them at all.
"I will be right with you, my apologies." I called as I set the quill and clipboard to work, finishing for me. Something I probably should have been doing in the first place but like I said - I liked being busy.
"That's quite alright dear we are in no rush." A kind voice called out.
Now that voice I definitely knew. I pushed the ladder causing it to move sideways pulling myself into the lady's view. Actually a lady and two boys. I was right. I knew these people. Narcissa Malfoy, her son Draco and Blaise Zabini. I hopped off the ladder and straightened myself up before rounding the counter to face them.
"Sorry again, Mrs Malfoy, stock take. Necessary but a pain. How lovely to see you again. How can I help you today?" I smiled.
"Oh my Addalie." Narcissa beamed. "It's lovely to see you again as always." She reached across the counter and took my hand squeezing it. She was wearing her hair down today with a simple diamond comb pinning bits back off her face. Her beautiful velvet green coat flowed down to the floor. She was beautiful, elegant and making me feel like a slob in my work clothes.
"And you Mrs Malfoy." I nodded, smiling warmly at her. I really had grown fond of my rescuer.
"I know you, don't I?" Blaise Zabini said squinting as if to see me better. "You look familiar."
I was a little shocked by this. After all not many people knew me. "I was in your year at school." I said.
"You were?" He answered even more shocked.
"Of course you idiot! She's Addalie Dumbledore. She is friends with Potter."
It was my turn to be shocked again. Shocked that he knew my name. I was invisible to everyone. I shook my head trying to clear it. "Not a friend so much as a shadow I guess." I shrugged.
Draco looked confused.
"Were you the girl Potter shagged in 7th year and -" Blaise started.
"Definitely not!" I quickly butted in.
"Oh," he chuckled. "Sorry." Draco looked bored of the conversation. "Oh I know. You were the one who laid into him in the hall after the battle. Called him out on being a fucker to you?"
"Guilty," I shrugged and Blaise chuckled.
"He may have saved the wizarding community that day but you were my hero!" Blaise smiled. "You were bloody brialliant. I thought Weasley was going to piss himself."
"She also saved us from the dungeons," another voice said as the door bell went again. I looked over to see Pansy Parkinson stepping into the shop. "Addalie right?" She said. I simply nodded and she smiled, which I returned. She wasn't wrong. When Flich took the Slytherin's down to the dungeons and locked them up, I felt guilty. They were sitting ducks and I thought of how dangerous it was. So I followed after Filch and while his back was to me, I stunned him and burst open the dungeons doors setting them all free.
