I arrived home to an empty house. Pansy must still have been out with Taron.
It gave me time to shower and shave before applying a small layer of my sun-kissed oil to my body for a nice bit of colour.
I had thrown on my dressing gown as I painted my nails and pulled out my dress. Now that I actually had to wear the thing, I was filled with anxiety.
I decided a bit of liquid courage was just the ticket, so I skipped downstairs and grabbed a bottle of gin and a bottle of lemonade along with a glass.
I had just poured my drink when I heard the fireplace roar to live. Out stepped a very flustered looking Daphne, also in the bathrobe mumbling nervously to herself.
"Addie?!" She screeched.
"In the kitchen!" I called back, lifting my glass and taking a sip as she came shuffling in, bunny slippers and all. "What's wrong?"
"Oh, I am so nervous!" She almost cried. "Is that alcohol?" She took the glass from me and downed it.
"Slow down. Merlin's beard! Sweetheart, I need you to be able to talk when you go to introduce me to your man tonight." I took the glass off her and set it on the table. "What's wrong?"
"I am so nervous, Addie!" She looked close to tears.
"Why are you nervous?"
"Because I... I... Addie, I...what if you guys don't like him. I mean, I know you will, but the others? I really, really like this guy, and I can see myself having a future with him. But he is ... not what you would expect my boyfriend to be."
"Honey, if you like him, we will like him. And it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. We are not the ones dating him. You are. So long as you like him, and he makes you happy, everyone else will be happy for you." I put my arms around her, hugging her to me.
"Really? Do you think so?" She sniffed.
"I do. Now, let's go up to my room and get you ready. Do you have your dress and things with you?"
She nodded and held up a little bag. I got her last Christmas with an Undetectable Extension charm on it. "All in here," she sniffed again.
"OK, let's take these," I lifted the gin and lemonade and a bag of frozen berries I had to add to the glass. "And let's go to my room, listen to music, fix your mascara, and get ready for a great night, OK?"
She nodded.
"And I will be with you tonight every step of the way. If you need anything, you just let me know, and I will always be there to help you." I smiled as we headed upstairs.
"Addie, you are an angel."
"I am definitely not," I scoffed.
"You are! I heard what you said to Theo, Harry, and Draco. You were amazing. And I know that you love Draco -"
I snapped my head up at her.
"Don't even try to deny it, I know you do. And he is mad about you too. He is always snapping at Astoria for saying mean things about you, and he is always on hand to sing your praises. He loves hearing about you and they way he looks at you. It's love. Astoria and Draco are horrible together. She doesn't actually want him. She is just after his money. I love my sister, but she is not a nice person. Draco deserves better, Draco deserves you!"
"He is coming out with us tonight. Astoria told us that she had to cancel her plans with him as she had to go to a dinner party with you."
"She lied," Daphne said, looking down at her feet.
