A few days later, I was up early and in the shop before anyone else. I was getting up earlier and earlier... no, I was getting less sleep and then was getting fed up with lying in bed fully awake, so I got used to getting up earlier to start the day. My theory was that the earlier I got up, the more tired I would be that night. But it never worked.
It was a vicious cycle.
But one of the good outcomes was that I was getting much more work done than usual. It was now approaching 8.30 am, and I had already been here for three hours. I had five potions of the go in the back... more stock for the warehouse. I cleaned the shelves and rearranged some displays. I had redressed one of the front windows to a new product launch, and I have updated the catalogue for the owl orders. I had dusted, swept, mopped and dried the floors, washed, and cleaned the windows, and I had done another stock take. Not that I needed anything new as I was way ahead of my work.
Ben had started a few days ago and was being trained in the Hogsmeade shop by Blaise. He seemed to be taking to it like a duck to water. Pansy had taken over the management of this store, so it freed me up to be able to work on the machine. I worked in the shop to about 12 noon every day before heading over to the warehouse to work on the machine. She had even hired an assistant to help her out. I couldn't believe how much had changed over the last 6 months since I signed the contract to work with Draco.
In fact, I couldn't quite believe it had been 6 months. It felt more like a few weeks. And I was still clueless as to what was going on with Draco. I had planned to confront him the next time I saw him, but I knew I would more than likely chicken out. It's what I always do.
The bell jingled, and I could hear Pansy and the new girl Rebecca chatting happily in the shopfront.
"Addie, you here?" Pansy called.
"Yeah, here," I smiled, coming out of the back.
"You left early this morning," She smiled and handed me a coffee. "Everything OK doll?"
"Yeah, I just couldn't sleep, so I thought I would get a head start on the day," I smiled and held up the coffee. "Thanks for this."
"You have been busy," Rebecca said. "There isn't much to do. I love the window display," she said, admiring my work.
"Yeah ladies, I have been working on a new line, of skincare. All natural ingredients and this one will tighten your skin and give you a beautiful glow. Add a few drops of that tanning oil, and you have a sun-kissed glow. It smells amazing, too!"
Pansy picked up the cream and swabbed a bit on the back of her hand. "Oh, it smells so good! How do you do this?" She asked.
"Just listen to what the customers want and deliver. Mrs Malfoy happened to mention wanting a cream that would reduce fine lines and wrinkles. There is a wizard in Italy that can magically enhance your features, but it is a temporary fix, very expensive, and dangerous. It doesn't always work out right, and it's disasterous to get wrong. So, I worked on a new formula. Something that can be applied every day, and you see the results immediately. It tightens the age and eliminates fine lines, laugh lines, and wrinkles."
Pansy looked enchanted.
"Now it's only available to our older customers. It can do serious damage on young skin. Younger skin is already tight, and using this cream may stretch the elasticity and do more damage than good."
"Has it been added to the catalogue yet?" Rebecca asked.
"Not yet," I smiled at her.
"Well, I will get right on it. I imagine this will be a big seller. Are you going to do an introduction discount?" She asked.
