(Scarlett's POV)
I've been at Kennedy's house for nearly a week and a half, bouncing back and forth from Paise's house and here.
It's almost strange...
Her parents don't seem to care that I am here, they seem happy to let me stay. Although, I know I'm going to have to get back to my foster home sooner or later. And I'm betting that when ever I do show up its not going to be a good thing.
Just like last time, Helen is going to slap the shit out of me again. Maybe even ring my neck.
I just can't wait for the day that I turn 18, I can collect all of my missing documents and get the fuck out of the hell hole for good. I will never even think once about looking back.
"Scar?" Kennedy smiled, stepping into her guest room, where I have in fact made myself very cozy in. She was dressed in some lounge clothes as she plopped herself on to the bed. "Did you wanna come with me to The Breeze?"
The Breeze is where a lot of the students from school go to hang out. Nick Hanson and his football douche bags also go to hang out there and that's probably why she wants to go anyway.
"Who's all gonna be there?" I asked her, hesitantly.
She shrugged, flipping her midnight silk hair over her shoulders. "Just a few people from school."
Nick Hanson is going to be one of those few people.
But I knew what I would regret what came out of my mouth next. "Sure, I guess."
I need to get out more.
Kenn smile brightened. "Awesome." She popped off of the bed and walked out of the room, going back down the hall. "Be ready in 10, Paise is coming to pick us up!" She yelled to me down the hall before I heard her door close and lock.
What have I just gotten myself into. I don't fit in with the kids at our school, they are nothing like me and I am nothing like them. They come from silver spoons and diamond studded diaper bags while I bare plastic sporks and hammy downs.
We are from two different worlds, which is why I know that this night is going to be nightmare.
I sighed deeply, falling backwards into the bed, burying my face under the pillows.
Moments later, I finally dragged myself from off the bed and to the closet to get dressed. I threw on a pair of white pre-ripped jeans that Paisley had sent me, along with a lot of other clothes that she no longer wanted.
Matching with the jeans, I slipped on a red and black flannel top and a pair of studded black boots. After dressing, I went to the bathroom and styled my hair into a big long side braid, slipping my knit beanie on over. I applied very little eyeliner to my eyes along with a bit of black shadow and mascara.
"Let's go, Scarlett!" Kenn yelled. "Paise is downstairs waiting in the front."
Shutting off all of the lights and things in the room and bathroom, I grabbed my iPod and headed to the front door where I meet up with Ken.
She looked my outfit up and down with a nod of approval. "Glad to see you are making those outfits work."
I chuckled. "Oh, shut up." I rolled my eyes. "Let's go."
Kenn yelled to her parents that she would be back later as we walked out of the door. Just as planned, Paisley was waiting in the front for us, we hopped in her car and left.
We got to The Breeze a little bit later, the place was literally packed with everyone from school. They all sat around talking, the place sounded the school cafeteria.
