(Scar's POV)
I have to tell him.
He leaves today and I have to tell him that I'm pregnant with his baby.
Why didn't I just listen to Paisley when she told me that this was the only way?
His mom saw me.
She saw Paisley rubbing my stomach.
And she ran out of the office.
But why hasn't Kyson called me yet? Surely he knows.
Right?
"His mother did not tell him." Paisley assured me. "He would be blowing up our phones if that was the case."
"Unless he doesn't care about me or the baby." I frowned, rubbing my nonexistent belly bump.
Paisley sighed. "Not likely, so shut up talking that nonsense."
"Why hasn't she told him?" I groaned, drowning my face in my pillow, my voice muffled. Paisley stayed quiet causing me to lift my head and look at her. Her face displayed uncertainty and hopefulness. "What?" I narrowed my eyes at her.
"Maybe, and just maybe..." She trailed off. "She didn't tell him."
I froze.
Would she not tell him?
"You think she wouldn't tell him?" I asked her.
But I knew the truth. She wouldn't. Kyson has a horrible relationship with his parents when I first met him and it stayed that way for a while. He only started feeling sympathetic towards his mom because of the affair and in some weird way, it brought them closer together.
He still feels neutral toward his father. They had a pretty good relationship in his childhood, but after his sister died, things were strained between them. Both of his parents, but mostly his mom because she was never around. At least we knew why now.
I'm sure he felt guilty for having so much resentment toward his mom.
"I think she wouldn't." Paisley shrugged. "And for the same reasons you won't."
"For the reasons, you won't what?" Lanie was suddenly at the door. "This wouldn't be the secret you don't want to tell me, but you want to tell me?"
Paisley looked at me.
I nodded. "Yes, Lan."
Lanie walked into my room, sitting on my roommate's bed. "I don't know why you feel like you can't tell me. I'm good at keeping secrets."
"Are you seeing Kyson again?" I asked her.
Paisley knew where I was going with this as she started shaking her head frantically. "Scarlett..." She cautioned.
"I'm pregnant." I confessed. "And it's Kyson's baby."
Paisley sighed in disappointment. She honestly didn't want me to tell anyone except for adults because most were too young to hold in the secret.
I waved her off.
"You're having Carter's baby?" Lanie pouted, she looked like she was going to cry. "I'm going to be an auntie?"
Yay. They are happy tears.
I nodded my head. "Yes, but you can't tell him a thing about it. He'll do the right—wrong thing." I frowned, confused. "Well, you know what I mean."
"Yes!" She exclaimed, standing up from the bed. "I'm going to be an auntie!" She whispered and yelled, tackling me in the bed softly.
Telling Lanie went waaaay better than I thought.
