(Scarlett's POV)
Stepping into the bathroom, I gave myself a once over before heading into a vacant stall where I proceeded into doing my business.
While I was in the stall I heard someone enter, who was, might I add talking extremely loud on the phone.
"No, Tia." She spoke into her phone causing her voice to echo through the entire restroom. "My parents told me that it was set in stone, that he has to do it."
When I stepped out, I seen a girl standing in the mirror applying more lipstick to her face. Her dress hardly covered an ounce of skin on her body. She looked like a full blown slut.
Turning on the faucet in front of me, I tried to drown out her screechy voice. I couldn't help my mind as it drifted towards Carter.
My goodness.
He looked so freaking handsome in his suit and tie. It fit him just right, accentuating his body figure and strong, muscular arms.
I think I even seen a peck through the front of his white dress shirt. What I wouldn't give to just touch it for one second...
"That's right, Tia." The blonde slut said from beside me, still polishing up her look as she snapped me from my reverie. "Carter told my parents that he definitely wants to marry me."
My head snapped up to her.
Carter's engaged? Maybe she's talking about another Carter.
"No, I haven't kissed him yet." She groaned. "He brought some little ugly rat looking child with him. I think her name is Lisa or something."
Lanie?
"He hasn't let go of her yet." She growled. "He barely let her go to the bathroom by herself."
I smiled.
Carter always did seem very protective of Lanie, I noticed that when I'm around them.
"Do you mind?" I heard her say, but I noticed that she was talking to me this time. "I'm trying to have a private conversation here."
"Right." I dropped my head. "Sorry."
Rinsing my hands, I reached for a towel to dry them.
As I left the bathroom I heard her tell the person on the phone that it was just some freak all up in the conversation.
She's a slut and a bitch.
Dropping my head, I headed back to Kennedy's family table and took my seat.
"What wrong, Scar?" Kennedy asked me across Paisley as she sat in the middle of Ken and I at the table.
Paisley nodded in agreement. "Yeah, you look really pale." She added.
Do I really look all that upset?
I gave them a small smile. "I'm fine. My stomach is just acting up." I lied smoothly.
"You sure?" Kennedy asked again as they stared at me worried.
"Yes." I chuckled, waving them off.
She nodded then went back into conversation with her grandma sitting next to her while Paisley went back to browsing through her menu.
My eyes drifted around the huge ballroom, admiring the decorations and the thought put into this event. I don't really like coming to things like this because I never really feel like I belong but its always nice to company my best friends.
Suddenly, I seen a familiar face in the mix. Lanie. She was seated at a founding table with people I didn't recognize except for one.
Carter. He had an empty seat beside him.
