May 22... You thought to yourself, school had finally let out for the summer. Though you were excited and in need of a break, you didn't have much to look forward to, sure, you could spend some time with your friends but that would soon be old... Maybe pick up a new hobby? You liked to draw, read, and play guitar but perhaps you could find something more engaging, hands-on, per se. You pondered over the question as you walked.

"Boo!" You jumped taken back by the sudden sound and grasp you felt on your shoulders. "Hey Y/N!" You recognized the cheery voice coming from behind you.

"Oh! Hi Lydia!" You sang out. "What were you thinking about? I was walking behind you and you seemed kind of spaced out." Lydia added. "Well, nothing serious, just trying to figure out what to do over the summer."

Lydia was quiet for a moment before filling the silence once more "You could always come to my house! I have some new games I just bought that we could try." She pushed you in a playful manner, causing you to stumble before laughing together.

The rest of your walk was filled with light banter, laughs, and unconfirmed plans for summer break, you and Lydia parted ways once reaching your house whilst Lydia continued walking to the buss stop to be taken home. You walked up the stairs leading to your front door where you knocked, followed by your father abruptly opening the door and greeting you with a warm smile.

"How was school?" Your father asked. "It was alright," you let out a long and dramatic sigh. Your father laughed lightly, "you better get started on that homework~" You shot a confused glare at him causing more laughter to spring from his mouth, "I'm only joking, Y/N!" You sighed again and gave the man a coltish smile in return before going to your room and sitting on the foot of your bed, remembering your earlier question. You pulled out a laptop littered with stickers of some of your favorite things. Opening Google, you searched for things to do over summer break, all of the provided suggestions were either something you couldn't do or you just weren't interested in so you eventually decided that maybe you could ask your parents for help while at dinner.

Your mother arrived later on, finished cooking dinner, and called for you and your father. A few minutes into the meal then you asked your question, in return you mom and dad offered several answers though you didn't find much interest until your dad proposed his final solution. "Why don't you come with me to the scrap yard tonight, Y/N? Maybe you could find something cool there!" Your dad worked as a mechanic during the day but worked in a scrap yard for a few hours a couple times a week to earn extra cash. "I'd love to!" You started to say, "but... maybe tomorrow instead?"  You felt a bit too stuffed from the meal, your mom's great cooking was hard to resist, though you were technically an adult, you loved that your parents still cooked for you, of course you helped often but you knew that after college, you'd need to move out and be on your own, so  you enjoyed the privilege while you had it. Your dad giggled, "alright, Y/N." Your dad rose from the table and planted a soft kiss on top of your head while you returned one but on his cheek. He gave a kiss to your mom as well then left not too long before you walked upstairs to your bedroom. You sat on your bed once more and put a show on the TV before laying your head on your pillow and wrapping up in your favorite blanket then slowly fell asleep.
