"You know I can't afford the medicine that feeds what I need"
Pierce The Veil
I started training daily with Demi, parallel to my NXT ascension. I really started felling like I belonged somewhere. My life's been so smooth lately, and I just love it like that. I had debuted in NXT 2 weeks ago now, and they were seriously considering having me in a tag team, since the public seemed to like me very much. They apparently had an idea of a partner, but they wouldn't tell me right now, and I'd have to discover it during tonight's show. This morning, Demi was spotting me as I did bench presses. Her hands were close to my shoulders, showing me the right movements, and how not to get hurt. All this was fairly new to me, and I was really happy to have someone as trained as Demi helping me on this one. I was really enjoying her company even more as time went by. We've only know each other for like two months, but it felt like we've been friends for years. Well, maybe traveling everyday with someone could have that effect I guess. We were in Vegas all week for the recordings, and so was the band, so since we weren't appearing at tomorrow's show, I got Demi and I passes to go and see them. It's very far from her type of music, but as soon as I suggested, she agreed happily. And I was really happy to bring together my friends from home, and my friend from work.
"So, did they tell you who your tag team partner was going to be?" Demi asked as she took my place on the bench, after loading way more weight than me.
"No, they won't tell me." I whined. "Apparently I'm going to get attacked tonight, someone will rescue me, and this person will be my partner. Oh gosh I hope it's someone I already know a little. Shit what if it's the redhead I got cheated on with." I laughed darkly. "That would be a fun few weeks."
"Well I hope for you it's not the case." She chuckled. "Oh, is it still okay for me to come tomorrow? I didn't think about the fact that you might want some alone time with your friends, you haven't seen them in a while."
"No! Well, yeah, I missed them, but I really want you to come, if you're not too scared of listening to pop-rock music for like an hour and a half." I teased.
"I'll be listening to them with you, so that's okay, it will be enjoyable, 100%." She smiled, beginning her reps.
I bit my lip a little. I never really knew if Demi was a little flirty, or just friendly with me, and it was messing with my head to be fair. I just tried to push it away as far as I could for now. We spent the day training together, and approximately one hour before the show, I went to get changed, and see the hair and makeup artists. Once I got back close to the gorilla, Demi had disappeared. I just shrugged it off, and assumed she had a meeting, or an interview somewhere. I started stretching, and preparing myself for my match. According to the bookers, I didn't need to make it long, I had to go for the pin as soon as there was an opening. I was wrestling Billie Kay, accompanied by Peyton Royce. I've talked to them a few times, they're nice girls, and we talked the match through, so everything was planned. The match didn't really stress me out, but finding out my partner did. I mean, if I had to go to the Tag Team Championship with her, it meant at least 2 months together. My theme song startled me out of my thoughts, and I went to the ring, doing my entrance as usual. Peyton and Billie did theirs as well, and soon enough the match started. Everything went as we planned, after barely 5 minutes of fighting, I pinned Billie for the win, and Peyton came to attack me with a kendo stick. It barely hurt, comparing to what Mickie did to me years ago. Billie, once not in shock anymore attacked me as well, and I threw myself on the mat, awaiting the theme song of my partner. Let me tell you my shock when Brutality echoed through the arena. So Rhea Ripley was my partner. Nice. Very, very nice. Rhea ran to the ring and threw fists at the other two girls, that soon retreated back to the locker room. Rhea helped me up, and wrapped her arm around my body to support me, as she held my arm in the air, my theme song now blaring through the speakers. I made my way back behind the stage with her, exaggerating my pained walk a little, but as soon as we were out of sight, and hearing, I jumped in Demi's arms, wrapping my legs around her waist. Even if I was a little taller than her, she still caught me without any difficulty.
"You're going to be my tag team partner!" I squealed in excitement.
"I guess so yeah." The little lisp from her fresh tongue piercing could be clearly heard in that sentence. "Happy?"
"You bet I am!" I smiled as I climbed back down. "I'm so so happy to be working with you. It's better than being against you, you scare me in the ring you fucker."
"As if I would hurt you if we ever competed against each other." She rolled her eyes. "I'd be extra careful not to break you in half." She had that motherfucking devilish grin on her face, and it was my turn to roll my eyes.
Jessica and Cassie passed by us, and we had a little debrief of the match, about what we could have done better, and what was good. I did that a lot with some other female superstars, and I found it helped progress a lot, because when you're in action, you don't always realize the small mistakes you can make. We then quickly headed back to the hotel, and ate there, before going to sleep pretty early.
