"Swallow your tongue before you try to say what's best for me."
Like Moth To Flames
Most of our weeks went by, resembling each other. We often had to fight for our titles on the main roster, and we gained a push in popularity by doing so. I continued my little side feud with Becky Lynch, but it was really minor. Tonight, Demi was having a singles match, and I was supposed to accompany her. We've had on and off singles and tag team matches for the past few weeks, and we kind of liked it that way. We had a great chemistry as a team, but we also had the opportunity to shine on our own. It really was the best deal for the both of us. We were as happy as ever lately, in our couple, and in our professional lives. Everything was absolutely awesome.
Until that night. I was accompanying Rhea for her match, as I usually do. I was really focused on her wrestling, and since we were preparing kind of a heel turn, I was supposed to intervene to prevent her from losing, distract her opponent, so she could get him. It was also stated that Becky had to stop me, but the bookers didn't specify how. So as I was climbing on the ring, I felt someone, probably Becky, grab my ankle, and yank me from behind. I felt my nose, and half of my face crash somewhere between the mat and the metal pole that held the ropes. I swear I could have heard the crack spread throughout my face. I sat down on the ground, holding my face in my hands, completely out of it, stunned from the hit I took. I finally heard Rhea's music still, and soon she rushed to me. I felt her discreetly grab my hand, and I squeezed it a little to signify to her that I was okay, and didn't need the medic. I stood up, still dizzy, and walked with her backstage. Blood was running down my face and in my mouth, the bitter metallic taste making me gag.
"I swear, if she broke your nose or something, I'll kill her."
Right now, I didn't know if it was Rhea the tag team partner, or Demi the girlfriend, talking so clearly that all the fans front row could hear her.
As soon as we got backstage, she led me to the doctors office, to get my nose checked. I wasn't a fan of that, but even I knew that right now I had to.
"Okay, I'm kind of concerned about your nose, and I think it's broken." He said after a thorough examination, and I sighed. "I would still like to see it in a day or two, once the swelling has gone down a bit, so I can assess the damage, and see if you need surgery. But anyways, I'm more concerned about the fact that you hit your head, and almost fell out of consciousness from the hit. I'll prescribe you some painkillers, you can get them tomorrow. Do you have some for tonight?"
"Y-yeah, I have some with me." I smiled a little. My head was already killing me.
"Okay great." He smiled back at me. "Will you be okay for the road back to the hotel?"
"Yeah, no problem!" I assured. "I'm not alone so I'll be good."
"Great, the I'll see you in a day or two."
I nodded and left his office with a sigh. Demi was anxiously waiting for me. She hadn't even changed out of her ring gear.
"Oh, you shouldn't have waited you know?" I smiled a little.
"Of course I would wait!" She frowned. "I was so scared for you! So, what did he say?"
"Let's get changed, I'll tell you." I started walking. "I can't wait to go to sleep."
She nodded, and we walked to the locker room. Demi decided she'd take her shower at the hotel, and I started explaining what the doctors said, when our favorite redhead entered the room. I let out a sigh, and stopped explaining, not wanting to give her the satisfaction of having hurt me.
"Okay, so where were we?" Demi asked, as she sat in the passenger seat. She had insisted on driving, but I said no, as she doesn't like driving at night. "Before that bitch came."
"You hate her so bad." I snorted. "But basically she broke my nose, I'll have to have it checked, and the doctor wants to see me again to check if my head's okay."
"I hope it's not as bad as I think it could be." She frowned a little, and kissed my cheek. "I'll take care of you, I promise."
"Oh babe, you don't have to bother you know?" I cooed.
"I want to." She assured.
I thanked her, and started driving. We had to leave to the next city, which was an hour away or so. But after only 20 minutes, I felt my vision getting blurry. At first, I decided to turn the music up, just a little since Demi was sleeping, but enough so I wouldn't fall asleep, since I thought that was what was happening. But after 5 minutes, and my vision becoming worse, and accompanied by a shooting pain behind my right eye.
"Oh fuck, not right now."
I decided to stop as soon as I could, not wanting to put us at risk of having an accident. Once the car stopped, Demi woke up, and I felt as bad as ever. She definitely needed the rest.
"You okay?" She asked, yawning. "Are we there yet?"
"Soon, babe." I kissed her forehead. "I just needed a break, and some fresh air. So I'll just get out of the car a little." I lied, and hoped she wouldn't catch it.
I didn't want to make her drive at night, but I also wasn't about to drive again in that state. She hummed in agreement, and I left the car. As we arrived in June, the air was getting warmer, and I loved it. I tried to bask in it a little, but then realized that my eye wasn't getting better at all, It was even worse. My vision on the right was now completely blacked out, and I started panicking. What if I wet blind forever? What if it was an injury that stopped my career? What if-
"Roxanne?" Demi's voice asked softly. "Are you sure you're okay? Look at me." She moved to face me. "Oh, baby, your eye." She breathed out.
