"Those open wounds are the thoughts I can't stop thinking about"
Bad Omens
In my newly invited eyes, the ceremony was incredible. I couldn't help but stare at Demi sometimes, her eyes glistening, and a radiant smile on her face. She has never looked so beautiful.
And it was apparently also what everyone thought at the after party. She kept getting showered with compliments on her dress, her makeup, her looks in general. And even though I couldn't help but agree with everyone, there also was this ugly feeling bubbling up in me, as the evening passed.
"Hey, Rox, you good?" Phil asked, with a sigh. "Did you even listen to anything I said?"
"I'm sorry Phil." I turned back my gaze towards him.
"She's not going anywhere you know?" He chuckled. "You don't have to be watching her at all times."
"People are hitting on her, and well, I can't blame them, she looks gorgeous, and she's single to them." I sighed a little. "I really don't know if telling everyone would make things easier, or completely the opposite."
"I don't know either, and it's definitely not a decision I can make for you guys." He gave me a reassuring smile. "But what I know is that you have nothing to fear for your relationship. She's been shutting down everyone since the beginning of the night."
I smiled a little to myself, and we resumed our conversation, about Phil, and his wedding plans.
"You're planning all of that when you haven't even proposed to her!" I laughed a little.
"I'm planning on doing it by the end of the month to be honest." He smiled. "In the hypothesis that she says yes, would you be my best man? I know it's not very conventional, but I really want you and Scott by my side."
"Oh Phil, of course I would!"
I took a step forward to hug him, and he returned it with a smile, and a 'thank you'.
"Ah, going back to your ex I see?" I heard Colby's unpleasant voice behind us. "Or maybe you guys never stopped dating? Maybe you're the one that cheated on me?"
"Oh just fuck off Colby." I rolled my eyes and turned around to face him. "Don't you have a girlfriend to take care of? Like, literally anything that doesn't involve being less than 15 meters away from me?"
"Feisty much huh?" He laughed darkly. "Didn't show that much of a resistance a few months ago."
"Okay, get the fuck away Colby." Phil intervened. "She doesn't want to talk to you, nor see you. So fucking leave her alone."
"Is everything okay?" Demi asked. Oh great. I love her and all, but I don't want her anymore involved with Colby.
"Yeah, I'm good." I fake smiled a little, not giving anymore attention to Colby. "We were talking about Phil's future wedding."
After a while of us ignoring him, Colby finally left, not without rolling his eyes with a loud sigh, and I couldn't help but smile a little at this. Demi picked it up and punched my softly in my side. She stayed a bit with Phil and I, and I saw her yawning from the corner of my eye.
"Do you want to go back home?" I asked softly, refraining from wrapping my arm around her.
"Oh, I don't want to make you leave early if you wanna stay." She said directly.
"Come on, you're obviously tired, and I am to, to be honest." I smiled at her. "Do you need a ride anywhere Phil?"
"Oh no, I'll be leaving with April, but she's reuniting with friends, and I'm letting her have her moment."
He smiled, and we left the party. As soon as we got in the car, Demi's lips were on mine, and I gladly melted into the kiss. My hand found her cheek and grazed it ever so softly.
"I missed you, even if we were actually together, how fucked up is that?" She asked with a laugh.
"I missed you too baby." I started the car, and drove us towards my place. "Now let's get you home so you can finally get some rest huh?"
"Thanks again." She sighed, and let her head fall against the head-rest. "All those hypocrites, I couldn't handle it anymore."
"Mh?" I didn't really say anything, too focused on my driving, but encouraged her to continue.
"I mean, all of them were calling me a man basically, and just because I threw on a dress, and some heels, now they want to bang me?" She chuckled in disbelief. "The amount of times I wished I could just grab you and kiss you so they'd stop."
"I have to admit I kind of wanted to kiss you so they'd stop, too." I blushed a little.
"Oh, were you jealous?" She teased, as I parked the car.
"No, I wouldn't call it jealousy."
We climbed the stairs and got into my apartment, to get ready for bed. This was done in record time, since we were both completely exhausted.
"So, if it wasn't jealousy, what was it?" Demi continued, as soon as I was comfortable in her arms.
"I don't know?" I snuggled closer. "It's not like I really thought that they could steal you away from me, but I don't know, I wanted them to stop, to leave you alone."
"One day we'll be public babe, I promise."
And with that, she kissed the top of my head, and we both fell asleep quickly after.
