" We begin to lose our minds, as we open up our eyes."
Bouncing Souls
I was beginning to pack all my stuff since I was leaving tomorrow evening, taking a direct flight to Washington DC. There, Phil will be waiting for me at the airport. I have a 19 hours flight to there, so I decided I wouldn't sleep tonight, so I could lose some time by sleeping on the plane. Maybe I can sleep for like, half the flight ? Well I hope so. I was so stressed for my luggage. I feared most than anything to have forgotten something. All my papers were clear to go there, I even contacted banks for my economies, and everything was transferred there. My mom was a sweetheart and helped me with all the kind of procedures I could face. Phil also helped me from his apartment in Maryland. Apartment he was sharing with Scott Colton. I couldn't contain my excitement. I check my things about 200 times before finally going to the airport. The guys were there to say goodbye, and they all had a nice comment for me, even Luke, which surprised me to say the least. I hugged them all and told them I was gonna miss them. They actually started getting some opportunities as a band, and I'm really proud of them. When we arrived at the airport, panic struck me. What if I wasn't good enough for that industry? What if I began a burden for Phil and Scott? What if I never arrived to the USA?
" Hey I know you're imagining the worst right now." Mom told me. "But remember, the word wasn't made thanks to 'what if's'. You'll do amazing sweetie, and as soon as you start to go on television, be sure I'll be watching you, weeks after weeks."
I gave her the biggest hug ever, and we went to check in my luggage. A speaker announced my flight, and the gate I had to go to. She accompanied me to the gate, and hugged me as tightly as ever before I boarded on the plane. When I entered the plane, the lady told me my seat number and I went searching for it. When I sat down, I felt a great loneliness coming to me. I left everyone I had, my family, my best friends, to go into the unknown, all by myself. Well, Phil is going to be there, but I guess he has his life in the USA now, so I'll have to take care of myself. As predicted, as soon as the plane went up, I fell asleep, suffering from sleep deprivation. I actually slept for ten hours, leaving me 'only' 9 hours of flight to occupy. I decided to watch one of the movies I downloaded on my laptop. Yay, I have all the Star Wars movies, that can easily take me 9 hours. And I was right, I watched star Wars for 8 hours and a half, leaving me thirty minutes to pack back all my stuff. When I got out of the plane, I was struck by a really cold wind. Why the fuck is it that cold over here ? I left Australia in the beginning of summer! I quickly went back into the airport to try and get back my luggage. I only had two suitcases and a backpack, that I took with me on the plane. Once I got my stuff back, I started searching for Phil in the middle of the crowd. I saw some bleached hair and went into that direction, but unfortunately, it wasn't Phil. I felt my phone buzz in my pocket.
From Phil, 6:23 a.m
" Hey, when you land and see this text, I want to tell you that I'm sorry, I had a problem at ROH and can't be on time to pick you up... So I asked Scott to do it, he's waiting for you outside of the airport, west entrance. See you soon!"
I put back my phone in my pocket and started searching for Scott. I finally found the said exit, but I remembered I had no idea what the guy looked like. I hope Phil told him about me, or this won't be easy. I saw a guy, pretty much the same height as Phil, really muscular, and that looked like he was searching and waiting for someone. I decided to try my luck.
" Hey, erm, excuse me." I started and the guy looked at me. "Are you Scott Colton by any means?"
" Yes that's me." He said with a gentle smile. "That means you must be Roxanne? Or I'm getting somewhat known in the wrestling industry?"
" No, unluckily for you, I'm Roxanne." I said.
" Oh great, I was starting to freeze !" He chuckled but shivered. "But wait, you're in a t-shirt, aren't you cold?!"
" Well, I left form Australia, where the temperatures wee still at like 22°C, so yeah..." I explained. "And I kind of totally forgot that here it was almost winter. And the very few sweaters I have are buried six feet deep in my suitcase."
"Well then let's rush to the car, and get you heated up!"
I nodded and he led me to the car, he explained to me that Phil and him share it, and so that we have to go pick him up from the ROH on the way.
" Can I just ask you a question?" I asked in a yawn.
" If it's what you wanna know, it's 6p.m here." He chuckled.
" Well, thanks." I said, a little bit surprised and changed the hour settings on my phone.
" You know, Phil has been talking about you a lot." He started. " He really believes in you and says you have a lot of potential. It's really rare for him to say things like that. He doesn't tab on anyone else's success, only his."
" I should be honored I guess?" I said, confused, maybe a bit because of jetlag.
" Yeah." He smiled. "But I gotta tell you too. He told me you've known each other before he started wrestling right?" I nodded. "Well know that now, he doesn't hesitate on anything to pursue his career. Wrestling has become like his will to live or something, and I have seen him abandon everything, just to pursue that career, so don't be surprised if that happens alright?"
I nodded, but I was freaking out on the inside. All my doubts were coming back.
