Chapter 27: Sharing Grief

Jason POV:

It's been about an hour since I've reunited with Eramis and she hasn't let me go at all. We've been in our bed and she's been cuddling me for the past hour. She was talking about how since I'm injured she'll be taking care of me even though I insisted I'm fine.

But Eramis being Eramis she didn't take that for an answer and is forcing me to be under her care until I fully settle into my new arm. It's not all bad though, I have to admit I enjoy our cuddling sessions. I never knew how nice it would feel to be held by 4 arms but here I am.

I decide it's late enough that I'm starting to get hungry so I try to get her 4 arms unhooked from around me, but they don't even budge.

Eramis: " You won't get any better if you try to walk around"

Jason:" It's just a new arm, I'm not sick or anything like that, I just feel a little weaker than usual"

Eramis:" You accepted yourself into Eliksni culture so you will follow our customs. It's a mate's job to care for the other while there undergoing a healing process"

Jason:" Fine... you win"

Eramis:" You're very easy to persuade you to know"

Jason:" Can we not bring this up now"

Eramis then gives a light laugh as she lifts me up and turns my body so I'm now facing her. She then brings me up and rests her chin on the top of my head. She then rubs the top of my head.

Eramis:" I was... scared"

Jason:" Do you wanna talk about it?"

Eramis:" I told you about Athrys before my... past mate until her unfortunate death. Well there was something else I feel like I should bring up with you"

Jason:" What is it?"

I feel her lift her chin off my head and move down the bed so we're staring face to face. We both lay our heads against the pillow as she continues her confession.

Eramis:" Well... We had... Children"

I feel my eyes go wide for a second before I give out a faint whisper in response.

Jason: "what..."

Eramis:" Eliksni breeding works slightly differently than humans... I won't go into the details but we had children and they... Disappeared"

Jason:" Disappeared... Like they just vanished?"

Eramis bows her head so she's looking away from me shamefully.

Eramis:" Not long after Athrys passed... our children were gone... I looked for so long and I couldn't find them then I discovered... they were murdered"

Jason:" oh my... I'm so sorry Eramis"

Eramis:" I swore to never have my heart opened to anyone else like that ever again... The grief was- was too hard to handle"

Her eyes were dripping with small amounts if blue luminescent liquid I could assume was ether. I've never seen her like this before she normally has her demanding voice on and all but now she's... sad, and scared.

I know I'm not the best at relationships but the pure sight of my tall Eliksni girlfriend crying is something I don't want to happen. I need to find something to say to try to cal-

Eramis:" You came... you came and melted the stasis shell around my heart. Then when I saw you on the ground on the brink of death... it brought me back to the day I saw Athrys die"

Jason: "I know grief can be terrible... I never lost something as much as a lover and children and I hope I never have the feeling... but I know the feeling of losing someone you love"

I see Eramis look back into my eyes with her one set of eyes still falling with ether tears.

Jason:" I lost my best friend Cayde-6... I've told you that already. But I didn't tell you about the man who murdered him... his name is Uldren Sov, Brother of Mara Sov of the Reef. He was manipulated by a wish dragon named Riven to kill him"

Her tears have started to calm down as she looks at me curiously

Jason:" At the end of my hunt for him I decided to kill him. I turned away from the way I've been taught about justice to end him and get revenge."

Jason:" His death hit the worst of all..."

I end my own story as I look into her eyes. I reach over and wipe the tear-stained part of her helmet under her eyes. She then whispers back to me

Eramis:" why did you tell me this?"

Jason:" I told this story to Shaxx and he told me something I never thought of... he said to grieve deeply, Is to have loved fully"

I see her eyes squint up in a joyful as a silent sob comes from behind her mask. As she's doing this she also wraps her two bottom arms around me as she pulls me against her body.

Eramis:" I-I.... I thank you... I never thought of it like that"

Jason:" Shaxx is strangely a deep thinker and a philosopher"

Eramis:" I... liked this time we shared... I'm glad you showed up... I'm glad you chose me as your lover"

Jason:" I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else... if you ever need anyone to talk to I'm here"

Eramis: " I'll keep that in mind... my pawn~"

Jason:" I- uh... yeah..... can we get some food I'm starving"

Eramis:" You stay here... I'll grab you some food"

Jason:" Yes ma'am"

I feel Eramis let go and as she's pulling away I give a light peck on the side of her helmet. She smiles even more from behind her helmet as she stands up. I see her walk away as she goes to grab some food.

Unbeknownst to me Eramis grew a smirk as she had more plans than just bringing food.

A/N: I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Sorry, it took so long I was working on a book for ao3. I enjoy writing a gentle side to Eramis and all that. Speaking of that there are rumors that she may turn good so I'm not getting too hopeful but I'm getting hopeful. As always if you have anything you'd like to say about the story I'd like to hear it.
