Chapter 24: Waking up

Eramis POV:

I promise I won't let another partner die on me.

I've been sitting beside the cot in the Eliksni medical ward for about 3 days now. Jason has been critically injured by that scum Taniks. I sent Kridis to find his body and dispose of it but she said his body was nowhere to be found. I guess he got away once again.

I look down at the guardian and see his sleeping face. I look down to his missing arm and see the stump wrapped in bandages. It seems that the machine spawns can't give them limbs back in this circumstance. I feel terrible for this, it's all my fault.

I knew I shouldn't have sent him but she talked me into it anyway. I realize how much I genuinely care for the small human. He has brought something into my life that I thought I lost long ago.I can't lose another partner, I don't know if I could still be a leader if another one dies.

As I'm thinking to myself I start to see Jason's blue eyes start to stir open.

Eramis:"Jason..."

Jason POV

I regain consciousness and I feel the world start to come to around me. I see I'm in what looks like a Eliksni hospital. I notice a figure next to me and I look up to see my Girlfriend waiting there. I look at her and give her a soft smile of appreciation.

Eramis:"Jason..."

Jason:" Hey Eramis"

Eramis then grabs the sides of my body before she pulls me against her in a big hug. I feel her body start to shake as if she's trying not to sob. I wrap my arm around her and lay my head against her chest. She pulls away and lays me down against the cot and sits down in the chair next to it.

Eramis:" This is my fault"

Jason:" No it's not. I wanted to do this, I made the decision"

Eramis:" But I allowed it, and you could've died"

Jason:" I... I could've.... But I didn't"

Eramis:" And now look, your missing an arm"

Jason:" I know I know, It's bad... but you saved my life and I came back... mostly in one piece. And i can just get a prosthetic arm anyway"

Eramis:" I Suppose"

Eramjs:" Just... promise you'll be more careful next time"

Jason:" I promise"

Jason:" Can you move closer, I wanna hold your hand"

I hear a small chuckle as she shifts the large chair closer to the bed. I feel her massive hand gently take mine and give my hand a squeeze.

Jason:" Do you know I do could get an arm like that and we have matching ones"

Eramis:" Praksis can scan the arm and make a smaller version of it so... yes"

Jason:" cool. I'm going to go back to sleep now I'm tired"

Eramis:" you must rest to regain your strength . Sleep well... I love you"

Jason:" I love you to"
