Chapter 28 <--- normal lengthed chapter again ! YAY !

The feeling of tumbling into nothingness had surprisingly become something I could now say I was used to. It was scary, I do admit, but also slightly comforting. Why was it comforting? I had yet to figure that part out. Crashing down to reality, the feeling of falling returned and my eyes shot open as a sense of nausea swept over me. Jumping back I took in a deep breath, in an attempt to calm my nerves.

I noticed that we were in the stolen van, Aaron at the wheel. He glanced over to me as I stretched my arms in front of me, cracking my neck. It was stiff from being in the same position for so long. “Have a nice sleep?” he asked almost bitterly. I glanced over at him, confused by his attitude, but knowing I had no right to question him about it, I just answered his question. “You could say that”, I yawned, then frowned as I noted the pastures and hills surrounding us. The sun was beginning its decent and the light was breaking up into its different colours. It reminded me starkly of Link, which was either a good thing or a bad thing. I guessed it was something I would find out anyway. No point in predicting if there was a fifty per cent chance I’d be wrong.

“Where are we going?” I asked, propping myself up, while at the same time trying to get some feeling back into my butt. The van’s seats were not comfortable under any description. I wondered how Aaron had managed to drive straight for the whole day. I would have offered to take over right about now, but that could only happen if I knew how to drive. I knew the principles, sure – that was the easy but. What I wasn’t sure of was how good my practical skills would be.

“To be honest? I have no idea. I’m just seeing how far this thing can go before we need to stop for petrol, which seems to be in about fifteen miles. Plus, we need a place to crash for the night”, he spoke truthfully which made me smile.  Basically: we were gypsies for the moment.

A moment of silence passed while I thought of how to tell Aaron about what I had just discovered. More so then that – when should I tell him? I was afraid of his response, of what he would tell me to do. I felt like I needed to make my own decision. Instinctively, I should be saying no. I was half human, humanity and earth was all I knew. I could not be responsible for stopping them from entering Link. Would humans die if they could no longer dream? What would happen to them? Would they end up like mindless robots with no souls? Would they lose their souls?

But if you looked the other way, humans would not only destroy themselves, but also all angels, demons, and demon/angelic creatures. Humans were idiots. Couldn’t they stay happy being ignorant the whole time instead of sticking their noses into everything? That way we wouldn’t have that problem but no; they had to go on and start destroying the universe and all creatures with souls. And now here I was, arguing with myself. Wonderful, wasn’t it?

Although no matter how long I continued to debate with myself, I still had to make a choice. Help my father and Aiden trying to control Link and stop humans from eventually destroying everything, and turning them into soulless creatures, or do the opposite. Do nothing and therefore be partly responsible for the end of Link.  Do something. Do nothing. I was starting to think I may be leaning towards a decision, but there was something else that was bothering me. The fact that there we were looking for the Scriptura, and so, supposedly was Aiden. Subsequently, so was my father. And somehow I was thrown into all this mix. There was something I was meant to be doing with these ancient runes and symbols, but what? I had no idea. Plus, there was the whole idea of armies coming together. Neither Aiden nor my father had mentioned anything about an army, and honestly? It would be something worth mentioning. Aisling and Jessica were ‘recruiting’ angels to fight against the demons.
