I'm thinking I may take a study leave from writing now :P We'll see ~~ Oh btw I'm going to edit some of that last chapter but it won't make any massive difference to the plot. *NOTE* Editing: Minimal. Thanks for reading! :D

“And that’s not even half of what this one can scarf down”, another voice called out from behind us.

I flipped around in my seat and as suspected, Aaron had just come in through the door, wearing a hoodie and sweats. Previous images came to mind and I ducked my head, knowing that my cheeks were more than likely flushed.

 31.

“Oh haha”, I muttered quietly, bringing my attention back down to the menu. I heard Aaron make his way up and sit down on the breakfast stool next to me, giving me a nudge. I pursed my lips, refusing to respond to him. I was much too caught up with the bottom of the menu that was folded over. I smoothed it out while I heard the girl give out a low whistle. Glancing up curiously at her, I noted her raising her eyebrows at Aaron, winking at me.  I answered her with a stiff smile of my own and shook my head slightly in answer to her assumption. She stared at me incredulously, her mouth slightly ajar. I shrugged.

To break the silence, the woman spoke. “Would you like something too, dear? She asked Aaron, keeping a polite smile on her lips.

“I’ll have the same as her”, he nodded his head in my direction. I shot my eyebrows at him at this, wondering if he was serious. “Copycat”, I whispered, getting off the stool and making my way over to the table and double chair set beside the large window displaying a view of the street. He followed after me, which made the daughter laugh.

“Right, I totally get it”, she passed me a knowing smile with a tip of her hat, before attending back to her phone. Her mother shook her head at us playfully before turning back to the kitchen. “I’ll have them for you in about ten minutes, okay? Chocolate cake just needs to come out of the oven and the croissants are already made. Just make yourselves comfy”. With that, the door swung shut and we were left in silence. I wanted to keep it that way, but of course I couldn’t get what I wanted when it came to Aaron and his somewhat petulant ways.

“Why the grouchiness?” he asked, all innocent faced. I gave him a bored expression before changing the topic. It was not that I was being purposely difficult—I was just annoyed, and a tad stubborn. Why was he so difficult to understand?

“Does it really only take long to change a number plate?” I asked, with evident curiosity. Honestly, it had only been about twenty or so minutes.

He narrowed his eyes at my oh-so-discrete change of subject but answered me all the same, going along with the simple game we called life. “Nah, not really since all I had to do was drive the car down to parking and switch them with a screwdriver I got off a biker. Why do you ask?” he added on at the end, cocking his head to the side.

To be honest, I was pretty amazed at how quickly he had done something like that but I wasn’t really going to admit that any time soon. If it was me though, I was sure it’d take a lot longer, mostly because I would probably just end up attacking the number plate with the screwdriver like a dagger. Oh well, we all had our own perks. Me? I didn’t know what I had. What was I good at? Come to think of it, I wasn’t exceptionally intelligent, or athletic (cough) or anything else, really. Was I funny? Maybe a little funny in a clueless way but other than that I wasn’t destined to some great success from it. There was nothing special about me then, was there? Looks weren’t really in my favour either, I was plain, anyone could tell you that. And maybe I was a bit too thin, but that wasn’t going to last very long with the amount I was eating lately. What was I then? If I wasn’t intelligent, athletic, pretty, funny, or healthy? Nothing. I wasn’t anything at all. Well, nothing important anyway.
