chapter four: “lilia vanrouge.”
(n/a: the cavalry captain isn't your son because your relationship with Pierro isn't as long as Morax nor Baal, but maybe stepson?)
— FLASHBACK
“I HATE MY LIFE.”
THE YOUNG PRINCESS told herself as her gloves and tears smudged her make-up, ruining her once stunning appearance. And the cause behind it is because her grandmother and former husband, Geo Archon. She reminisced about the scene she witnessed—he was laughing and smiling with another woman days after their parting. Her room felt her wrath, too—the destroyed pillows, smudged bedsheets, and shattered glasses scattered...
"You called for me, Your Highness?" A servant entered her room.
"Bring me ten bottles of whiskey," the devasted (Name) ordered. The servant was hesitating and made her glare at them, "Are you defying my orders? I said bring me ten bottles of whiskey..." The way she delivered the order was calm, but her tone was stern and terrifying.
"YES, YOUR HIGHNESS!"
The beautiful black dress was ripped apart, showing her cleavage and forearms. The once elegant bun turned into a ruined hairstyle, different strands of her hair peeking out. She faced her broken mirror, touching her face. She was engrossed in it as she destroyed the remaining glasses, burning everything in oblivion...
"Your Highness, these are your whiskeys..." The servant stammered placing the Princess's whiskeys on the ground before running away.
Hours have passed and the Princess is still drinking whiskey. Her back was against the headboard of her bed with the bottles beside her, both empty and full of alcohol. Her blank thoughts were interrupted when her door opened and revealed her trusty caretaker, Lilia Vanrouge. His long black hair was fixed in a high ponytail and his thin, yet fixated posture complimented his looks with those bat-like magenta eyes...
"I never expected the Thorn Archon drinking," he remarked as he leaned against her doorframe. "(Name), you're a complete mess. The Queen wouldn't be glad to hear you drinking... How many whiskeys have you drank today?"
(Name) groaned, "54 before midnight... Then 26 right now and this is my 27th," she replied. "I don't feel anything, Lilia. This... Whiskey somehow eased my mind. I wouldn't mind being addicted to it."
Lilia sat at the edge of her bed, "I'm surprised you still have your mannered tone. 80 whiskies, but you're not drunk."
The Princess chuckled, "Maybe this is the effect of me being an Archon... Or a dragon fae..." She jested, finishing the 81st bottle. "My intolerance of alcohol is something else, too. I believe those are the reasons why I still possess my normal thinking, but I feel weak... For once, I feel weak. I don't know why Lilia."
The general widened his eyes when tears started to cascade through her lime crevices, worrying him. She's been crying for the whole day and he knew she needed time alone to suffer her broken heart. He hugged her, her face resting against his chest, while her arms wrapped around him. The 82nd bottle shattered while his uniform was now wet due to her sobbing and he didn't mind...
"Stay with me, Lilia. Don't leave me too," she begged.
"Of course, (Name)."
(FLASHBACK END) Her thoughts were interrupted, again, by the same man who consoled her—the man who swore his life to protect her. All heads turned to the opened door, revealing Lilia Vanrouge. Throughout the years, his once-tall physique turned into a small and fragile one that he only reaches (Name)'s waist...
"How're your travels to Snezhnaya, Lilia?" The Queen asked, delighted her retainer is safe and sound. "Your clothes are wet. Was it raining outside?"
Lilia bowed, "Good evening, My Queen. And yes, it was raining!" He replied, giving the servant assisting him his wet coat. "Goodness, it was freezing in the Land of the Cryo Archon. It's also freezing here."
(Name) smiled, "I'll send the servants to prepare the chimney inside your room." She said. "Oh and Lilia, the adventurers that took your commission arrived to send what you conferred to the Adventurer's guild. Don't worry about paying them because I already did it for you," she assured.
"HERE'S WHAT YOU ORDERED, SIR!" Paimon chortled as Lumine handed the sacks of goods. "We hope it's not rotten," she continued with a worried expression painted on her small face.
"Thank you, tricksters! I didn't expect someone finally got my commission!" The male jested, taking the sacks from their hands. "Oh, it's not rotten. Great job!" He laughed, opening the sacks.
(Name) froze when she saw the goods—meats, fruits, and vegetables of different varieties. Knowing her caretaker for as long as she could remember, his cooking wasn't the best option to eat even though they were hungry. Silver and Sebek already got food poisoning from LIlia's cooking, making her run to the nearest doctor and bothered Barbatos to get the healing sister from Mondstat's Chapel...
"Is something wrong, Your Majesty?" Lumine questioned, waving her hands in front of the bewildered Queen.
"Hm? There's nothing wrong, dear Traveler. No need to fret," (Name) immediately gained her composure. "Say, Traveler, do you mind staying here for dinner? The weather is unpleasant for you to go back to Mondstat. It's not nice to be blamed if either of you got ill from the harsh rain, so be wise in choosing your options."
"LET'S STAY HERE, TRAVELER!" Paimon exclaimed, shaking her companion's shoulders using her dainty hands. "YES PLEASE, YOUR MAJESTY! WE WOULD LIKE TO EAT DINNER IN YOUR HUMBLE PALACE!"
Lilia brightened his eyes, looking at the guests. "OH~! MAYBE I SHOULD COOK FOR THEM—"
"Lilia, please take a rest before indulging yourself in another job and leave the guests to me," the black-haired female interrupted."Either way, you should stay away from the kitchen for now..." She whispered.
Her caretaker pouted before going upstairs as she lead her guests to the grand dining room, revealing the servants placing the meal for today's dinner. She placed a hand around the blonde-haired's shoulders, guiding her to the table while her silly little companion had pretty much indulged herself already. The Queen chuckled at the Traveler's companion before sitting in the middle of the farside table...
"Pray to tell, Traveler, are you hungry?" (Name) asked as she fixed her napkins. "Paimon dear, please calm down or you'll get choked."
"dqheuihxeiwrhcwehxkwmexymxi!" Paimon's words were incoherent, confusing both the older females. The servants panicked when the little one choked, immediately handing her a cup of water, "THANK YOU!"
"Sorry about my companion, Your Majesty," Lumine apologized as she hesitantly took the spoon and fork offered before her.
