chapter twelve: “the dark knight.

(n/a: considering dragons are possessive of their mate, don't be surprised by the MC being possessive over Lumine or Morax being possessive over MC.)

“I NEED TO ESCORT A BALLOON. WHAT A STRANGE COMMISSION.” (SAFE CONDUCT)

THE QUEEN uttered, taking a look at her assigned commissions. Since she's a new adventurer, her commissions are said to be done with ease—for example, she can just deliver meals to a customer of Good Hunter or eliminate a couple of hilichurls/slimes/etc. This one is a part of the easiest commission known to the Adventurer's Guild...

"Near Starsnatch Cliff..." She murmured, starting to take a long way.

"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" A childish voice exclaimed, stopping her from walking. "YOU'RE SCARING THE PIGEONS!" He said, pointing at the flying birds away from him with tears evident on his face.

She smiled wryly before kneeling to his height, placing her palms against his tear-stained cheek. She always has a soft spot for children since she has adopted ones from the past and one of them is quite the crybaby. The half-Qilin would sob if no Qingxins are seen around the lands of Liyue, making her plant a lot in a nick of time, and would use her powers (secretly) to grow them as soon as possible...

"It's impossible to get them back again though—"

He stopped when her hand glowed, pointing in the direction where the pigeons were. He could swear he heard her mutter a spell—revertere unde venisti. In flash, the birds were suddenly back to the bridge's ground as if she didn't make them fly away. He gasped in surprise before feeding them with wheat, making the Archon smile from the child's happy expression...

"I'll be going now. Farewell, child of man," she bid goodbye and turned her figure to continue her journey.

"WAIT!" He ran towards her, grabbing her hand.

     "Hm?"

"PLEASE TAKE THIS!" He exclaimed, handing her a handkerchief and a sweet madame. She chuckled at his small, yet meaningful actions, "DON'T LAUGH! IT'S FOR YOUR JOURNEY BECAUSE YOU NEED IT MORE THAN ME!"

Ruffling his dirty blonde hair, "Thank you then. I'll treasure this."

She placed a kiss on his forehead before she disappeared from his sight, leaving an obvious lime tint on his forehead and pecking at the pigeons behind him. He was excited to tell his Mother Grace the beautiful, tall woman he met...
