chapter twenty-eight: “an interrupted truth.”

     “YOUR SUIT IS SOMEHOW MESSY.”

THE HARBINGER told the disguised Queen, approaching her. They were currently in Liuli Pavilion—the disguised Geo Archon was staring at her the whole time, waiting for the Fatui diplomat to leave him and his wife alone. The Thorn Archon, on the other hand, is having a hard time holding her self-restraint since she wants to slap her former husband...

She chuckled when he started to fix her collar, "You don't have to do that, Mr. Tartaglia. I can fix this myself," she assured and gently removed his hand.

Tartaglia blew a raspberry, waving his hand, and continued fixing her suit, "I don't mind. Plus, it's one of your charm points you're wearing a suit—makes you attractive in my eyes," he winked playfully and earned another laugh from the woman.

Zhongli coughed and appeared beside them, surprising the duo, "Mr. Childe. I suppose you still have leftover business in Northland Bank, yes?" He asked then followed by a wry smile from the ginger-headed male. "If you don't mind, I would like to be acquainted with... Ms. (n/n). Could you permit me to have an alone conversation with her?"

"Of course, Xiansheng!" Childe agreed. He turned his head to (Name), "Hope you two get along! Have fun talking to him, Ms. (n/n)! See ya~," he grinned before leaving the building.

ONCE CHILDE LEFT, silence enveloped the room as the woman averted her gaze to avoid his stare. Of course, the disguised Geo Archon couldn't be fooled twice—her deception was enough. He recognized the same disguise she used while being his handmaiden. Their expression contrasts with each other—one is angered and the other is glad to meet their spouse...

"Hello, (Name)," he greeted. He approached and tried to hug her, "I missed you—"

It broke the remaining patience she has and slapped him. "Don't act friendly around me, Morax," she remarked and was annoyed by his presence alone. "Do you know how many problems you caused me? Because you're dead? Do you know how many mortals are suspicious of my sudden arrival?!" She angrily told him.

"It has to be done," he explained. "Please listen to me, (Name)."

"Don't call me by that name. You're no longer someone in my life," she added.

He felt sad when she addressed him like that, "Alright then. Forgive me, Your High—Your Majesty," he bowed to give honor. "Please listen to me. The contract, our marriage contract, may be one-sided because I'm the one who created it... Lilia has told me I betrayed you for I am unaware of that fact for years of searching for you. The truth on your side has caused the contract to break," he told her.
