chapter eight: “bestie.

— FLASHBACK

     “HELLO THERE!

A VOICE greeted the horned royalty, who was reading a novel. She turned her head to see a floating male. His bare legs and stomach are in the show, making her think he's a twink of some sort. He was smiling while she kept a blunt look, unamused by his appearance and bothered by his presence...

"HI! YOU MUST BE (NAME), RIGHT?" He asked, sitting beside her.

"Please keep your voice down..." She calmly reprimanded. "You're making a ruckus within the land of Thorns."

He coughed, "Sorry about that... Got used to it!" He apologized, rubbing the back of his head. He's well acquainted with her grandmother, so he's aware of her granddaughter, "What are you reading? Maleficent, huh... Heard there's this fairy tale about it where Maleficent was the villain—"

(Name) shut her book, interrupting him, "She's misunderstood. Be careful with your words," she uttered before standing up from her place. "I'll be taking my leave now."

"WAIT~! I'M NOT DONE WITH YOU!" He called.

Barbatos would visit (Name) in her kingdom—tailing behind her. Of course, the grandmother doesn't mind the God of Freedom visiting her granddaughter because he's more humble unlike the God of War (Morax). However, the young dragon doesn't see him as "that", but she does enjoy his company...

"Barbatos, what song do you have to offer?" She asked her fellow Archon, who was sitting at the top of the three. "Do you have any songs related to nature?"

He placed two fingers under his chin, "Let's see... AH, YES! I DO HAVE ONE!" He snapped, making her chuckle from his reaction. Grinning at the Thorn Archon, he started to play his lyre, "... You better listen to this."

     "Of course."

Their little chats turned into a usual meeting, the same tree was the witness to their heartwarming conversation. Sometimes, (Name) would sing for Barbatos to sleep or she would sleep on his laugh during his lyre performance. However, it all stopped when she went to Khaenri'ah and was never seen again or that's what he thought at first...

"The Queen's planning to destroy her wedding again?!" The God of Freedom exclaimed in disbelief, disappointed in his friend. "Wasn't torturing (Name) because she married Morax enough for her? That's inhumane already," he fumed in anger. (The Queen is the same woman who Pierro "married", the homewrecker.)
