Ch 13: I Get Summoned By the Gods

The next week went by smoothly. Toothless was starting to get the hang of how camp went. He was still very protective of me though. I was sparring with Sherman and he pinned me on the ground. I had to reassure Toothless that everything was ok. It was quite funny. Toothless has been warming up to my friends, he is still wary of them, but he has been making progress. I found out he's the most comfortable around Serena.

We were at the campfire one night and I was sitting against Toothless's side with his head on my lap. The Apollo cabin was leading the sing-a-long and we were eating smores. I see Serena come back from getting her smores and motion her over, "Hey Serena, nice night isn't it."

She sits down next to me, "Yeah it is. The weather is perfect right now. Ya know, you still need to tell me about Toothless, you said you would explain more but you haven't."

"He, that's true. Let's see, where should I start," I say this while scratching my chin.

I started talking about how we became friends. I went in depth on how I built his tail as well, "You should have seen when I showed him the tail. He was like a dog when it sees a bunch of tennis balls."

Serena giggles, "He really is a big softy."

I laugh, "His tail was wagging and everything."

Oh no, I see Serena start to pet his head and I wasn't able to stop her. Surprisingly, he just made a soft cooing sound. I smile softly, He's starting to come around. I see Toothless's tail swing around to move Serena closer. I chuckle, "Seems he has a soft spot for you."

She laughs as well, "I guess so."

We spent the rest of the night talking. Toothless would sometimes interject when he had something to say. I get up to leave and give Serena a hand up. We make our way back to the Hermes cabin. Serena goes inside and notices I didn't follow her, "Are you staying out longer?"

I look at Toothless before looking back towards Serena, "Uh, I think I'm going to stay with Toothless. Ya know, keep him some company."

She smiles lightly, "At least grab your sleeping bag if you're going to stay out there all night."

I chuckle, "You're right about that."

I tell Toothless I'll be right back and go inside to grab my bag. As I leave, Serena says, "Goodnight Tamotsu."

I stop for a second. I turn my head to look at her with a smile, "Goodnight Serena. See ya tomorrow."

I turn back and walk over to Toothless. As I approach him he gives me a look, "What are you looking at?"

He makes a sound of disbelief and starts to waddle away. I mutter under my breath, "You can be a pain sometimes you know that?"

I follow Toothless back towards the clearing, where we settle down for the night.

I spent a lot of time working on my jutsus. Over the week, I was able to Shunshin a fair distance away with a fair amount of effort. I also started to learn the Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu (Fire style: fireball jutsu). I made good progress on that, being able to create a small-medium sized fireball. Toothless has been trying to help me but he uses more electrical blasts than fire.

I am currently at the rock wall with my friends. We have been trying to make it to the top but it is very difficult. I'm about halfway up the wall. I got through the easier part pretty quickly. I look down and ask, "You still there Percy!"

I couldn't see him but I heard him respond, "Yeah I am! I think this is the one!"

"Let's not jinx it!"
