"okay, dominic, put the goggles on," i speak into the mic that's connected to the room he's in.
"so then, how will you see what i'm seeing," he asks.
i roll my eyes.
"it's connected to the monitor i have in here," i sigh, "focus. you're going to be put into a simulation."
"makes sense the dots on the walls," he says and slides the goggles on. "why did you need simulation rooms?"
"we used to use them in case of an alien invasion. we trained special forces mostly. this room is made for teams, but you'll do fine."
"teams?!" he asks looking around blindly.
"begin."
i press the 'start' button and the lights in the room dim. on the monitor the empty room transforms into an abandoned building.
most teams would infiltrate searching for one alien intruder, only to find two.
i want to see how dominic will react to this.
"what the hell?" he says.
"focus dominic," i state.
he starts walking through the run down building, walls barely intact and debris everywhere. it looks realistic.
he looks into whatever rooms there are, treading slowly. he creates blue- maybe electric wise- balls around his hands in reality and in the simulation. he looks down at them.
it's amazing that he can just pull that from his body.
he continues walking until an alien swings from one room to the next right in front of him.
"oh shit!" he yells.
he chases it into one of the only intact rooms, finding the neon green alien sitting in the corner of the ceiling.
he throws his electro-ball at it but the alien dodges it, flying to the other corner. he throws his other ball and it connects, disintegrating the alien.
"what the fuck was that?!" he curses.
he turns his head at the sound of the second alien, this one flying by the doorway down the hall.
he runs after it, it no where to be seen when he enters the hallway.
he forms his force field and walks confidently.
"where the hell are you?" he calls out.
i smile to myself.
stay confident dominic.
listen to your instincts.
he continues to walk until the alien appears in front of him. it swipes at him but can't get through the force field. it spits something black at his force field but it does nothing.
dominic sends the alien flying away, but it isn't because of telekinesis. this looks like some sort of pulse of energy wave.
manipulation of energy maybe?
if this is correct, how did soraya crack something scientists have been working at for god knows how long? what did she do?
when i got this case, i thought it was going to be easy, but then this happened.
this has to be luck.
my father would be proud of me.
dominic stalks toward the alien before lifting it in the air with his telekinesis. with his other hand he forms an electro-ball and throws it at the alien, disintegrating it as well.
the screen reads 'mission complete'.
the lights come back up.
"you can take the goggles and vest off," i tell him.
"that's it?!" he questions, ripping the goggles off.
"we're taking it slow. how did that feel?"
"okay. movie esque," he answers staring at the window of the room im in.
he wouldn't be able to see me.
"eventually i'll get anna and chin in there with you so you all can work together."
"cool."
"go get some water. relax. do whatever. i have to take care of some things."
i get up and leave the room, heading to the elevator.
i click on lab one and ride the elevator down.
soraya is smart, i know that.
i just need to wait until she screws up.
and she'll screw up.
i reach the floor of lab one and step off the elevator.
borkov meets me in the hallway.
"hi my love," he grins, kissing my cheek.
"everything okay in there?"
"everything is perfect. it's all set up. come on."
he leads me into the lab and into a separate room.
dominic's little sister, apollonia, lays strapped to the lab exam table unconscious.
i grin to myself.
"beautiful. just beautiful."
