i look around, seeing alex has joined our team. i count over everyone again, furrowing my eyebrows together when i don't see apple and the doors barricaded.

"where's apple?" i ask, looking at soraya.

"we... we think ann took her," she tells me with hesitation.

"ann?! took her?! how?!"

"we just know that someone took her from the van, but it has to be ann," persephone tells me.

i notice ray is holding her stomach.

"what happened?!" i question.

what the hell did i miss?!

"dominic stabbed ray," alex tells me.

"stabbed?! how long have i been out?" i ask.

"almost two days," ray answers.

"two?! we need to go! apple is in trouble! you could've left me here with a note saying "bye gonna save our seven year old from ann"! i would've understood," i tell them.

"are you crazy? i'd never do that to you. we would never do that to you," ray asserts, scowling at me, "besides, we don't know where she is. i know they left the capital. i wouldn't stay there."

my mind jumps to the elevator buttons.

"lab-lab one!" i rush out. "remember?! on the panel of buttons, it said lab two. so they must've went to lab one!"

"lab one. i know. but where is lab one gray? we need a location. we were okay sitting here, waiting for you to wake up."

i shake my head.

"we need to find her."

"now that you're up, we're going to," alex says.

"we can go back to yours," ray says, "come up with a good plan."

"we can't go back to mine. what if she set up spies?" i question.

"true," persephone says.

"so where are we going to go?" juniper asks.

we all look at each other.

"i have somewhere we can go," matt smirks.
